Racing incident.
Both Max and Ham get crashy when battling for position. It could have been a much, much worse wreck. But racing is dangerous despite the current FIA trying to act like they should be raching around in plastic bubble wrapped bumper cars. |

Maybe some sort of system to penalize by severity of incident? A 51g crash on lap 1 being penalized same as pitting in under closed pit lane? Makes no sense.
I haven't seen a move like that since the last time Lewis was behind in the points. |

It is rather easy. Where you part of the red flag incident? Yes? No work on pit lane for you until after the race restarts

Anyway, news today regarding team members visiting Stewards. I thought Masi telling both Wolf and Horner to go visit was pretty stupid. I think I'll try that next time I have a jury trial. Oops, I forgot to mention something during trial, guess I'll just go in to the jury room during deliberations and make my case. ![]()

Brazil when Hammy took out Albon. It took stewards until after the race to decide what everyone else, including the pro Hammy announcers, could decide after a couple of replays. That cost Sainz? an opportunity to actually be on the podium during the celebrations. This one took an agonizing amount of time, IIRC they didn't make a decision until the red flag period was over and several laps into the restart. Reasonable minds can differ as evidenced by the comments on here, but FFS they really need to make up their minds and get it on. Reminds me of college football (as I don't watch NFL or NBA) and how long it takes for the 'guys upstairs' to take a look at the play. All the while the announcers explain the standard of review and how it only takes the ball to 'break the plane'. Honestly, as Seb would say, get on with it. I don't believe the punishment in this instance was enough but I'd be pretty upset if I were Mercedes and the punishment came down after a 45 minute red flag period and several more laps after the restart. No way the team can adjust properly with that amount of time wasted.

I'm guessing there were a few pelicans pulling for Vettel in that one.

Stewards handed out some penalties today. Much harsher than GB 2 weeks ago. GIO got 10 second stop go for spending in pit lane.
That start reminded me of USGP in 2005. Hammy really made a huge mistake on that. Then tells Bono to get the boys focused for remainder of race. Just curious, was that podium just theater by Hamilton? The othe 2 drivers drove equally as hard and had to run back to pits. Always great to see a first time winner

Result in doubt now due to low fuel. That will be a shame if it goes down

Vettel DQ'd from second place. Terrible thing to do to Vettel. Not enough fuel in tank.

Surprised to find this thread on Page 5 after such a fun show... Love to see Alpine pull a rabbit out of the hat, and Alonso was epic..
But I can't get over how lucky Hamilton is - don't get me wrong he good too (great even)... But the way luck always swings his way is incredible. Engine trouble? That's always for his teammate. Him being last means nothing, you always know he's still in line for a win... 2 weeks ago he takes out his oppponent and gets very little damage and a free repair. This time his teammate takes out ALL his opponent(s) and the free repair is not sufficient for them (too much damage)... Then he completely muffs the restart tire swap and is dead last, and yet he's still on the podium ;-) But wait that's not all, they DQ #2 and now he's second ! It's uncanny. Yes, talent, best car, but also a lucky star the size of a whale d!#k ! Both MAx and Checo are now on engine#3 facing early penalties this season because a Mercedes car or another punted them. Maybe that rule also needs revisiting.. Last edited by Deschodt; 08-02-2021 at 10:02 AM.. |

He a politikin' man. Which is why he left Mclaren; they didn't let him play at politikin'. Hamilton doesn't just compete on the track. Racing is not just about being the best driver on the track.(it helps.) It is also about navigating stewards, race officials, own team, other teams, etc. Hamilton seems to play these off track activities better. Some of it I admire, some of it I don't. |

Two for two for Mercedes taking out their completion. this time they made sure to take all of the top points earners out. Bottas has secured his seat with Toto for next year. Maybe next race the Mercedes transporter can just run the Red Bulls over in the paddock.
So Vettel gets DQ'ed for not having enough fuel at the end but Bottas only gets a grid penalty for altering the points battle and manufacturers battle? Not to mention it was a rookie move? Not a good look for Mercedes.

So what would have happened if Ham came in for new tires at the restart like everyone else? Only the safety car on the grid.

if deliberate
bottas is a very skilled precise combo shot to use one mac to hit both red bulls and gets a 5 grid spot dig for costing red bull 20+ points worth millions each |

God, the comments on social media are hilarious. The funniest one: Hamilton, looking in his mirrors while lining up for the restart, "Did Valterri take out everyone?!"

Clarkson had great one too: Ah. Clever. Only Hamilton on the track. That way he can’t hit anybody.
