Commit to the corner and hope the exit is open when you arrive and can actually see it.

The animation is so typical of sound engineers. The pitiful music is louder than the engine sounds. Just drop the dang music, and make it sound like a race car.

I guess it is not much different that Crofty, screaming during the lap.

Track limits are going to be a real issue here. Lots of flat corners and no gravel to dissuade the ambitious.

Yea, I wish they would simply be logical with track limits. There is a white line at every track, just like the public roads. All 4 over the line, and you are off track and lap is disallowed in qualifying, and three times over in the race, and it is a 5 second penalty.

It looks like a very unsafe track.

No different than Long Beach.

Seems like the concrete barriers will rein in a lot of track limit excursions.

I agree street circuits are mostly of similar construction.
I have driven Long Beach/concrete tunnel and to me this new track looks much faster in most areas.

You know the difference between 1 inch and 3 inches from the wall?
About a second a lap.

F1 track design today replaces runoff areas with walls.
You're in the desert why design a track like its downtown NYC.

It would be annoying if the WC was decided on a lottery (say HAM or VER involved in a crash in front of them, car bouncing off wall), or some safety car lucky pit call. I would have prefered traditional tracks to end this fairly. We'll see... It's been a really fun season, I hope it ends with a good fight and not just luck.

Hamilton has the better luck that all the grid combined. I will admit much of that is due to the fact he does not crash during practice, like his teammate. He seems to get through traffic when so many other cars are punted off. How many other drivers have had a flat, and a shredded tire on the last lap and still driven 3/4 of the lap to win.

Whoever manages to stay out of trouble will probably be WDC. With that I say it will be LH in the end.

That's what I was thinking but then I pulled it up on Google maps. The track is right on the coast with water all around it. So runoff would be water. They could have put it a couple miles away in the desert but then it wouldn't be in a cool location.

Track limits have not (yet) been declared.

I saw a thing on social media today ... If Max outscores Hamilton by 18 this weekend he clinches WDC. Ironic that if Max had not been crashed off track in Silverstone he would have likely scored 18 points for a P2.

Hmmm

Could Max be so ruthless and unsportsmanlike, to take Ham out to claim the championship?

Maybe Nico could intentionally cut down Hammy's rear tire again.

Huge hit in P2 by LeClerc today. Only 4 minutes left in session and he cracked it up pretty good on at least two corners of the car. He got out and walked away. Simply amazing. The aftermath looks worse than the actual hit but I'm sure it didn't feel good.

Leclerc's incident shows that any crash at high speed with a car bouncing back into the path of another, likely unsighted, could cause a huge accident. They may not be able to see yellows in time... Not saying it will happen, but it's faster than Monaco, and narrower than the fast portions of Baku. It's cool but scary. Picture mazepin doing his usual spins behind a blind corner and the leaders arriving at 300 kph. I still predict an annoying ending to the championship battle because of a silly accident (and yes, if bad luck strikes, it won't be against HAM - he's impervious)
