Actually, this could get serious financially...a restriction in the supply chain causing shortage all over the world.

That's almost comical. They should have a couple guys out there with the little plastic shovels you get for beach toys for your kids.
Seriously: is there a way to offload some of the containers if the ship isn't in port? Make it lighter/float higher? That may take less time than digging the ship out.

I heard they were offloading some now (from the bow).
The machines they have are pretty large, but you'd think they could use 2 backhoes at once |

That's certainly the bigliest ship I've ever seen.
I'm sure they must have had a Kiwi as captain to crash it in such a straight forward patch of water. |

The captain forgot his cell phone and was trying to turn the ship around to go get it.

Google satpic of the canal with ships smack dab in the middle. Somebody screwed the pooch bigly on the Everstuck.
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Suez+Canal/@30.4849804,32.3217733,12961m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x14f9aaeef52d333b:0xadec1 b7a1220a846!8m2!3d30.5666722!4d32.4465671 How wide is the ship? The canal is about 1000 feet wide at most points.

Is the ship too large for them to use hydraulic mining techniques to blast the sand away where the ship is run aground?

So are they planning on putting up bumper pads on that ship for future passages?
Prolly gonna ban them from ever going thru again....

They couldn't have thrown another 8' on the damn thing to make it an even 1/4 mile? What is this world coming to?

I remember seeing many burnt military tanks on one side of the canal. We had to anchor out a wait a couple of days in order to take our turn to go through.
