Right. It used to look like that, but it's been decades.
Long lost are the days of Trapp's Bakery, Mummey's Hardware and Ed's Camera Corner. _

The characters from Jersey Shore were from New York, See how an invasive species can creep in from other places and cause problems? Kinda like tsetse flies, carp, Nutrea and rats.

Sorry, for the confusion. That's what happens when I'm too lazy to copy & paste.
Let's give it another go ... Quote:

Sorry but no, still unclear on what is untrue?
1. The area that is a problem is only one block? 2. The area is larger than one block? 3. There is no problem area. |

The contention that it's limited to but a single block in downtown is absolute hogwash.

We went to Portland in 2004. It was a nice enough city, but the traffic was insane. We sat in traffic on the interstate at a standstill several times that week. My wife commented the people in Portland don't have houses, they all just drive around on the interstate. It was worse than LA at rush hour.
The area just outside of town is so beautiful. All the waterfalls and trees. No way in hell will be be going back in the near future. Like San Fransisco, it is a great city that has fallen off our list of cities we will be returning to visit.

I know what occurred in Philadelphia and Atlantic City and they were well over a block and nothing in comparison to what was being shown coming out of Portland. But, do we expect them to be honest? No. |

If you are talking protests? That was actually TWO blocks.
Made some great television for many of you, it seems. The protests are really a non-issue now. Yes, there were a couple in the last two months. But, its not a thing. If you want to ***** about Portland? Homeless people. That is AWFUL. And, we had some REALLY BAD fires in the Fall. That sucked as well. I am baffled how Portland is such a big ****ing issue for all of you? I live here. And it isn't an issue. My business is in Portland proper. I know thousands of people in the area. And this is not a big deal. You have been fed propaganda... |

If you ever visit PARF (note: not recommended) you can see a constant stream of essentially this exact thread and all of them push this belief that the entire downtown of (insert densely populated metropolis) is a smoldering war zone, uninhabitable because (something about democrats) and there are roving gangs of (insert boogeyman here) destroying property and threatening citizens all the time. The crowning irony here is that the folks pushing this fear message are generally the same ones claiming the residents of (insert densely populated metropolis) spend all of their time either fearmongering or cowering in fear themselves because (something about democrats). Alas.

Amazing isn't it? It's almost like QAnon has instructed their robot followers to go underground, pretend to be innocent concerned civilians, and spam non political boards with political lies, hate and misinformation. Then insist that everyone else believe the same lies even when multiple people on the actual scene call them out on the lies. They are worse than street corner Evangelist, standing on the corner screaming their nonsense, making fools of themselves intruding on everyone that passes good day. I know where your church is. If I want to visit, I will. In the words of the immortal Mr. Dudley, "We have set aside a place for you to do that." Last edited by black73; 05-18-2021 at 02:35 PM.. |

but yea. I'd give Portland a visit for sure.
there's news on TV and the Media, and there is stuff I see with my own two eyeballs. you don't know how many times the two stories don't match up. i'm gonna go up for Walleye fishing!! and eat Fried Chicken nestled in homemade biscuits and drizzled with mustard and honey.

If any of you come to Portland, I promise you a weekend full of LOUD live rock music, GOOD local craft beer, art that shoots FIRE into the air and just a general good time with fun loving, open minded people who love to laugh.
