Finally an actor who fits the Jack Reacher character from the books. Don’t get me wrong, I like Tom Cruise as Reacher but he doesn’t fit the physical description. This looks entertaining.

This snippet of the synopsis that I heard on a podcast yesterday made me laugh, and intrigued me enough that I might even give the series a look.

"(Ritchon) gives Reacher the intimidating man-mountain presence missing from the movie version played by bantamweight Tom Cruise.
Ritchon's Reacher could use Cruise's as a sock puppet."

My first thought Vash.

Not a single thing about Tom Cruise was right for that role.

The only big thing about Tom is his presence, although intense may be a better description.

This guy definitely looks the part.

At one point I had read all of the Reacher books, but it became tough to keep up and even on the Kindle they were $$, so I have not read any in a couple of years.

I agree he looks the part and I will watch.

Tom Cruise is a better actor, meaning he delivers his lines better, especially complicated dialog. He does a credible job drawing a weapon and doing the fight scenes.

This guy in the new show has better presence. Far better. He looks the part. He'll do a credible job acting wise so it'll be enjoyable to watch. But no one does drama better than TC. It's easier to do comedic acting (not comedy, which is hard) than drama. The two films with TC were not comedies.

Yes two movies. I think Cruise bought the rights to make all Reacher movies if I heard correctly. He blew it by casting himself in the lead role. Not because he’s a bad actor but because he in no way fits the description of Jack Reacher in the books.

How much does that matter, though? I really liked the movies (especially the first one), probably because he played Jack Reacher. How many people stayed away from the movie because he wasn't a big guy like in the books?

I liked them as well. They were very entertaining and let’s face it, Tom Cruise is a great actor. It just nagged at me that he’s so small. Lol.

i loved the two Reacher movies with Cruise. i hated the part where he slowly destroyed the Chevelle, but whatever.,

as for his diminutive size; the books really played on his sizing. i think one book even went as far as calling him gorilla like. (could be wrong)..and the first movie, if it stayed with the spirit of the books, he would have banged the lawyer lady for sure.

i actually got tired of the books. it was the same recipe/formula over and over again for the 4-5 books i read. i think i fell off and started reading Mitch Rapp stories. and that movie sucked.

Cruise brought his fame and star power to a movie that 90% of the viewers never read a book in their life.

I figured it was typical Hollywood. If a 90 pound woman can whip three professional body guard MMA fighter type guys the size of the new Reacher at the same time then Cruise can play a big guy. Cruise is perfect for the Mission Impossible movies.
