I find it interesting that Red Bull are very adamant that they submitted all paperwork required and that it added up to less than the cap . So are they lieing ? They can't add ? The FIA can't add ? Something seems off to me.

You either balanced the checkbook or you didn't . I am sure there will be legal wrangling and eventually a final verdict .

I'm sure the reality is more like a billionaire and his lawyer being audited by the IRS, hairs being split, terminology adjusted, final wording agreed upon.

7.5 million is a rounding error, apparently.

I’d like to know why the F aren’t there strobes and flashers all over the cranes or other on track equipment. The pace car is lit up like a Christmas tree, why can’t the other vehicles be too?

They are lying.

I think their contention is that they're saying that the FIA is including costs that shouldn't be in the cap, and the FIA is saying that they're in the cap. That there's only one team that went over tells me that RB knew exactly what the cap applied to, blew it, and are trying to wriggle out of consequences.

Other team principals were aware that RB was over the cap when the review started last year before the season was over. This is not a shocker to RB.

When it comes to bull**** politicking amongst the team principals, nobody compares to Horner. And it works for them, so why not keep it up?

Because they should never be occupying the track at the same time as the race cars unless fully bunched up behind the safety car.

My understanding is three teams went over the cap . Williams apparently caught their overage , alerted the FIA and paid it back . RB and AM went over the cap . RB is fighting it but really haven't heard much from AM but their issue sounds more like paperwork or filing errors .

If RB or any other team went over then a penalty has to be applied . I think the FIA is trying to figure out what an appropriate punishment should be .

Presuming overspending equates to some performance benefit, a monetary penalty would be a slap on the wrist. That benefit could be maintained for years. Do they have a formula they could use to take away points? I don’t see that happening.

If I am understanding Red Bulls position on the cap overage , some of the overage revolves around Adrian Neweys salary or compensation . Apparently Adrian was on the books as a " contractor " vs a direct employee .I have to assume the $$$ associated with contractors comes out of a different bucket of funds .

And that bucket doesn't count against the cap ? Would love to know the details on this and if it is true .

I read some opinion piece about doing that type of race, basically unrestricted F1.

The cars are pulling 5G now in braking and corners. If they could go to active aerodynamics, traction control, active suspension like the new Corvettes and 911GT3 has, ABS, and all the other modern computer controlled gizmos they might be pulling 7G in corners and under braking. I can't image 2 hours of track time at 5G and I few drivers could stand it at 7G without G suits, and the costs would be extreme. All the top drivers will stick to F1 unless the backers of the new series throws massive prize money to the drivers and teams.

I am a long long way from a professional race driver as a fat old man driving my basically stock 200 HP 85 911. I did a 25 minute session at Eagles Canyon track in Texas, in very pleasant weather and I was beat. Buy the time my run group came back up I had recovered and went back out pulling 1G in corners and having as mush fun as is legal in a car with clothes on. I did 130 miles of track time and my face was almost stuck with a big smile on my face. I honestly can't imaging the Le Mans or Dayton drivers in real race cars doing long stints and double stints, in very hot cars.

No freakin' way! Redbull played with this idea with the gran turismo game series, and what is technically feasible is not at all okay for people. Forget G-suits, the brain couldn't keep up for long enough and fatal crashes would be constant.

This business about how overspending creates an advantage "for years" is laughable. Does anyone really believe that? In F1?

Honda has really established some serious prestige now by winning the WDC two years in a row. In fact, I'd say they increased the prestige of the top Japanese car brands in general, such is the notoriety that they've achieved.

Nothing like a Marlboro Ferrari or a Benson and Hedges Jordan. Also nothing like a West cigarette girl giving you a ciggy and lighting it while you walk into Hockenheim.

Just for my own amusement I'm compiling a photo and statistical record of motorsport achievements I've helped contribute to over the years

Maybe I'll turn it all into a book for myself or use the photos for screen savers or create some garage wall art next to my model car collection

Have no thoughts of stopping anytime soon but it's been fun looking back at it all
