Need to Replace My Mag-Lite

Spent 12 years on patrol, the 3 "D" battery Mag Lite was a multi purpose tool, before pepper spray and tazers. Not even close to the illumination of the new smaller lights.

Someone makes a $70 drop in LED/reflector unit for the 3+ D-cell MagLites that is claimed to give 1000 lumens. It doesn’t work on the 2 D-cell MagLites. Those, with LED bulbs, are only claimed at 500 lumens.

I know the old MagLite doesn’t give great light, but I think it’ll last my lifetime. Dunno why, but I’m increasingly into buying things once and never again.
