idk, pure speculation, and off the top of my head:

materials science we otherwise dont have
fundamental physics understanding we dont have
non carbon based, or some other fundamental life chemistry

like we dont know how its possible for life to travel interstellar, so the biggest bits of evidence of ET life would be in answering how its possible to have happened.

Are these subtle geopolitical hints that the US has some things tucked away in the closet? The USA has had the where with all (money, talent and scope) to utilize other technologies that other nations didn't posse for decades...
