It's ok to have fear - it is a natural emotion. Everyone faces fear - you just can't it paralyze you. As I have gotten older, I find I have less tolerance for drama. So enjoy and don't be afraid to speak your mind. And if it ain't working for you, walk away.

Back to the topic, I don't date because I'm married but as most likely do, I wonder about it. Well, at this point I doubt I'd put much energy into 'dating'. I think I'd be more like Willie and just say, "If you've got the money, honey, I've got the time."

Are we still venting?

For me it's simple. I just get out there and talk to new people as often as I can. My GF is gorgeous and I'm happy but we all know that can change unexpectedly but I don't subscribe to the idea of looking for your next prospect whilst still being with someone.

Do you have a local Mall? Lots of ladies wandering around and if they're single and interested they'll let you know (which also means ignore that ones that don't). Dress neatly but not flashy. Cleaned pressed shirt and slacks. Avoid jeans or shorts. No flip flops. Scanning for prospects should be as brief as possible. A quick assessment glance then look away. Believe it or not generally women know when they're being ogled and they find it creepy.

And who knows? You may even make a new friend(s). Life is good. Enjoy!

As for venting? I invited him for dinner yesterday. In route he called to say he couldn't make it. His car's check engine light had come on. I was disappointed, but understanding. Okay, fine. If it was me, I would have ignored that stupid little light. In my world there's no problem unless I see smoke or smell antifreeze. But we can't all be daring like me. Some of us are lawyers, haha.

Anyway, he said he'd call later, which I liked. Thing is, he hasn't called at all. That makes crazy me wonder, who is she? Sane me says, "so what if he hasn't called? He's not my BF. I don't even know if I want him to be my BF." Sane me also remembers momma's advice. "Men are like trains. If you miss one, another will be along in a couple minutes."

My date left abrubptly after a few hours and a few drinks . The only thing I can think of is me saying " nice rack" . I am of course kidding .
I was polite and friendly . Conversation was kind of labored, but it was a noisy bar with a halloween party going on . Her idea .
She is kind of quiet and reserved. I thought I would not hear back from her again, but low and behold , she is texting today , wanting to get together again .
I had no idea what was going on with women 30 years ago, im even more lost now . Good luck to all of you navigating these waters. Luckily , I am totally cool being single for as long as needs be
