How long have you waited for something?
Happy camper post on a pool site I visit... finally at the top of a waiting list.
"Well I just got an email and after 17.5 years my wait is over to pick out my Southwest cue. No clue what to order as far as woods and colors. I will be ordering every option available though."

That question is simultaneously easily answered and unanswerable.

Not sure if this counts; took me 17 yrs from start to almost finish my 911. I still have some small stuff to do. Part of that is life / time / finances or rather lack of contributed along the way. A few hard times we almost sold it half done and of course, taken a bath on it. Of all the stuff I've done since a teenager, this was the longest of them all

About 5 years between books now for Dresden Files. At least his son is now a published writer, just in case...

Twenty-five years to get it, thirteen to get rid of it. As the saying goes be careful what you wish for you just may get it.

Marlin 39A lever action .22 rifle. 44 years now.
I came in 2nd place in what I think was an NRA essay contest when I was 13 years old. Still won $50, which was more money than I had seen in one place up til then.

Six years in the 1990's for the upper rifle, a Model 74 Sharps from C. Sharps Arms in Big Timber, MT. They told me it would be about two years, I paid up front in full. In the end, though, it proved to be a match winner at our local 1,000 yard matches. Chambered in .45-2.6" (aka .45-100), just enough more poop over the .45-70 to make a difference. Still one of my favorites.
The bottom rifle took two years to get from Shilo Sharps, also in Big Timber. This was four or five years ago. They told me that up front. Paid in full upon order as well. This one is a hunting rifle in .45-2.4" (aka .45-90). I understand both companies are now delivering in a year or less. ![]()

Was back in 1967 my dad mentioned he was wanting to get a new car. I instantly suggested we go visit the Porsche dealership. A 1967 911 S would have been the perfect family car with two teenage boys stuffed in the back seats!
He did actually take me along as he test drove the 911. The car salesman rode in the front, so I was crammed into the tiny back seat. Despite my pressure he decided an Oldsmobile Delta 88 with a real back seat and factory air conditioning a comfortable ride was a better choice. Maybe he was right. I had to wait until I was 40 to start my earnest quest to actually buy a 911. It took me until I was 41 to find a great car and to take possession of my 85 911. I looked at a lot of badly abused and crappy 911s that were cheaper, but I did not want a project car. There was no real internet back then so finding the right car was much harder.
