Question about fix-a ticket

Dinner with wife and couple friends last night. Due to lack of parking, valet took care of parking. No front lic. plate on the Cayman. Got dinged from meter maid. 25 bucks. I haven't gotten one in a very long time. We had to clear it at CHP station years ago. Now, there's no instruction but the fine on ticket and that can be paid through QR code. Anyone know if it needs to get signed off at CHP or they just want the fine. I hope its just fine and be done with it. Don't feel like drilling holes on my bumper or look for my front place. Don't have any idea where it is? Oh yeah, this is in paradise call LA well, City of Glendale for those that know socal.

Maybe go to the website where you can pay the fine if one's available? Otherwise, pay with the QR code (you have to, anyway) and see if you're done?

If you have to fix it, get a kit that doesn't require drilling into the bumper, then remove it after getting it signed off?

I should have been an illegal and all this siht wouldn't have matter to me in this state. They parked it about 7 cars away in front of the restaurant on the street. I saw the meter maid walked by as we were eating and my friend even made a comment about it. I noticed all other car had no front plates got something on their windshield. I counted 7 cars in the general area on both side of the street

Michigan last required a front plate in 1981 and I'm glad of that.
I don't know why other states haven't done the same.

Well, I'm sure law enforcement has a better chance if identifying a car for a bridge toll, red light violation, or other violation. On a rare occasion, something could be serious.

There’s no tow hook hole on the cayman? You can put a plate on those fairly easily.

Even if you had to show evidence that it was fixed, you don't have to drill holes in the bumper.

There are plate mounts that screw into the tow hook hole/threads, so completely reversible.
Rennline makes them (and others I think) that are available from Pelican Parts

You're in the minority, Steve. According to this article, 29 states require a front plate.
I can only assume, it's to allow the vehicles to be easily identified from the front, have a nice target for laser/radar speed measurement, etc....

I've been stopped twice for no front plate in VA. First time was a cop in an unmarked Camaro, I was in my 993, and he was trying to get me to race him. I didn't take the bait, but he lit me up when I pulled away from a green light quickly. He tried to get me on DUI too, finally settled for no front plate. The second time was in my '83 SC, was coming home from a DE. But I had the plate in a bin of other stuff on the front seat and he let me go. I was 1/4 mile from my house and told him I'd reinstall as soon as I got back to my screwdriver.

You will need to go to your local CHP field office and get it signed off by the front desk officer.

Please!!!! Do not stop in the side of the road while an officer is issuing a citation. It’s very dangerous for everyone involved.

Texas has a front plate law but I don't run one on any of our Porsches. They mention it on that not as rare as I'd like occasion when I get pulled over for speeding but I've only gotten one ticket for it and that was over 30 years ago. On that occasion the license plate ticket was in leu of a speeding ticket so I gladly took it.

On the not pulling to the side of the road comment above: I usually don't. I'll get off the freeway if it's a big one or try to pull into a business if it's a small highway but I was surprised by the state trooper when I got pulled over in the wife's Panamera last year. I pulled off the highway in just a few hundred feet into a business and he told me I didn't need to do that and could have just pulled to the shoulder. I told him I did it for both our safety. He didn't reply to that but mentioned the front license plate and let me go without a ticket.

This.

Once got a 'no headlight' fix-it ticket in SF. I'd just replaced a radiator in a Civic and forgot a connection. Shame on me. Cop pulled me over at early dusk when 90% of the cars weren't even using headlights yet. I plugged it in and he replied "I already wrote the ticket". Went to a local station and got it signed off after making an officer walk outside. Then I stood in line for over an hour at City Hall. They reduced the fine from $25 to $10. Sigh.

Oklahoma has no front tag. One one of my trips to California, I stopped to get gas. A motorcycle highway patrol officer stopped to go into the convenience store, and he looked over at my 911 with no front tag. He pulled out his ticket book, and walked to the rear of my car. He saw it was Oklahoma and he put his ticket book away and went inside. I finished filling up, and parked next to him and went in to empty my bladder.

As I went in, he was exiting, and he said nice car and kept walking.

Several years ago, I got a no front plate ticket in South Pasadena.
I had to fix it and go to the CHP office to show the repair.

I was able to get a plate backing and hook it to the car with tie wraps.
I cut it off when I got home but kept the plate backing, just in case.

Ugg i feel you on drilling front bumper. The front tag for my new GTI is in the glovebox (i think...hope).

As mentioned it seems the cleanest (not cheapest) solution is a tow hook tag mount.

Somewhat more creative would be a sticker of your license plate. You can order these online. A fellow i met years back over at ESReg had this on a GT3RS.

So. Pasadena, CA? How in the world do you get a ticket for that when I regularly see CA cars with even no rear plate. Hell, I don't even know that they're CA cars, though lots of times the rear plate frame has the dealer's name on it. I can't believe how many cars run with zero plates in CA.

Arizona doesn't require a front plate.
My Arizona registered vehicles in California have been ratted on.
Had to prove to CHP the cars were used for business and personal use in both states.

Dang, I was hoping they just take my money and that would be it. Looks like I have to get a tow hook lic plate holder. I wonder if they have on line ref, like everything else we do today? Take a pic and be done with it.

So Pas is tough. Small city and they nail you for everything. I am there all the time. We live three exits from there. Once I was nailed for not turning my wheel toward the curb on a very, very slight hill.
