We made it with 3 guys in their 50's in the 88 targa. I drove 1.5 hours(each way with no ac) with an ass blowing my horn at every women he saw and another balled up in the back seat. Still a good trip and race.

Backseat rider: that's hardcore :D

Nice to see the officials at VIR cracking down on the bumper car racing.

Hmmm, Bryan Herta Autosport is running an IMSA LMP2 program next year. Not announced, but it doesn't take a lot of deduction to figure out this is a preparatory step to run the Hyundai GTP program in 2027 given they've been Hyundai's mainstay program in Pilot Challenge for several years. Should be good!

A nice crowd at the AO shop today.

Tricky qualifying at COTA with on-off rain. Kubica/Ferrari on Hypercar pole, followed by Ferrari, Peugeot, Porsche. Mustang on GT3 pole. 6-Hour starts tomorrow at 1:30.

Also, BMW confirmed 2-car GTP IMSA program for 2026 and said there were never any internal discussions about canceling the program as had been reported.

It is good to be PJ (at least some of the time ) AO had quite a collection on display.
When they fired this one up, it was quite a familiar, pleasing sound every 930 owner loves.

^^^ Nice!! :D

So COTA is underway in the rain ... behind the safety car  Come on, let 'em run! This is endurance racing. Rain and visibility issues are part of the game.

1st Porsche WEC win of the season. Wet race. Kevin Estre put in a killer drive at the end. McLaren won GT3.

Congratulations to Porsche/Penske on the win . Racing in the rain successfully shows true driver abilities .

The first race I ever saw with Estre driving (maybe World Challenge) was in the rain and he trounced the field then.

Nice to see my favorite sounding car get a win.
AO seems to be struggling. I'm available to go slow and suck more.

^^^ good win for Cadillac today . Porsche Penske had penalties and some stupid driving :( . Rexy got beat up today , the # 120 Porsche in GTD finished second . I think the BOP adjustments to Porsche Penske of less hp and more weight is really hurting them . Looking forward to Petit LeMans .

astrochex 09-21-2025 03:06 PM

It sure starts with BOP. Difficult to catch up when they break your toe.

I’m surprised the #4 did not get a penalty for the love tap into the #77 near the end of the race.

I wonder what it is like being the Guy(s) at IMSA who do the BOP. Every team has got to be lobbying hard for more HP and less weight, and on top of the factory money you have very successful people who probably get their way much of the time.

Not a job I'd want. Or maybe take piles of bribes for my 930 budget. :D

Yea it surely is damned if you do and damned if you don’t. It would be fascinating to be a part of the entire process for the Petit rejigger. IMS is an atypical track so how do you add/blend that data for a classic road course?

CurtEgerer 09-22-2025 04:12 AM

Yeah, great to see the AXR Cadillac back in the winner's circle. At the beginning, I thought Lamborghini might have a solid race but not to be. Aston Martin was really disappointing - they seemed to be making steady progress all year but took a couple of steps back  The BoPs always suck but at least in the endurance races, multi-class racing usually tends to negate them a bit. Even with a marginally faster or slower car, you still need to be able to work the traffic. Porsche could've had a podium with a clean race. Anyway, good race and looking forward to Atlanta.

CurtEgerer 09-22-2025 04:21 AM

A must-read for BoP critics (aka everyone interested in endurance racing :D ). The State of BoP Endurance Racing

I like the idea of eliminating BoPs and adding some sort of Joker system allowing a set number of modifications to underperforming cars per season. Maybe you get 2-3 chances to make modifications and if they don't work, too bad - you're SOL.
