I guess I am just missing the point here. So I am supposed to feel badly that Red was banned from our forum. Seems to me, and "I'm just saying," he was not one of the finer additions to our little community. Sure, I'm going to miss having someone to hurl my aluminum foil attacks upon and sure I'm going to miss getting to hear about aliens, UFO's, abuse of prisoners, etc. Sure those opinions need to espoused by someone and Red was at a minimum a great ASSet to our BB for that job. But sending PM like this

" Your a POS
And a homo

__________________
red UFO 928"

personal attacks and dropping F-bombs seems a little much. Heck even the ACLU doesn't approve of hateful or bigoted speech, or does it?

Anyway, I for one say adios to our aluminum wearing alien.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

Unbelievable that people back the "alien" and his constant poo flinging. It is almost sad to think anyone would want this guy on their side of the political fence. For the record I am on the right side of the political fence and I am not a "Jesus freak" or an Alien freak or a member of our armed forces.

Red's anti-US anything attitude was so over the top that is was comical.

I hate opinions, but here is mine anyway. Take it for what it is - nothing more.

Please quit trying to politicize his removal. Z man was very clear in the fact that it wasn't for his views, but how he approached them with blatant disregard for the rules of the forum and the others whom posted. He was also warned and reminded of these rules more than once.

Although a senior member, I am still relatively new around here. Considering the conversations of most other normal posts, I am a bit surprised and impressed by Z's patience.

Plain and simple, he often responded personally to those whom may not agree and sometimes just in self-defense. He was bright enough to realize what he was doing and dumb enough to continue it. Personally I did not care for his cut and paste style posts, but tried to learn the other viewpoint from them. I sincerely hope that he finds a more appropriate place to communicate with others and that he doesn't unleash his little green friends on us or this site.

" Ding, dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch, the witch is dead" or something like that.........

Impossible to explain with out being accused of adding a twist or spin. You kind of need to know the history thru experience with him to fully understand. Read this final post thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=201151 and drop in an f-bomb where ever you see the word "edited".

Red had some issues dating back to when he was real young. He lost someone real close, and his old man didn't provide any guidence - but was not abusive so Red couldn't hate him, Red just didn't respect him but rather pitied him. He tried to find a release in his music but lacked the discipline to develop the chops needed to express himself accordingly. He later found a relaease in blaming the ruling party but it really was a cry out against his Fathers emotional absence. The UFO stuff is fake but a needed diversion. He actaully needs to have smething greater to believe in than what he has (or didn't have).

It wasn't his language. It was his consistent violent replies that was iritating to me.

What are a "violent replies"?

Replies that threaten violence?

If that's the case then I'll have to tell you the one and only case where I cried to teacher (Z-man). Someone on this board suggested that a poll be started, the poll would be on wheather or not to kill Red UFO.

Killing a member of the board, or even talking about may be considered "violent" in this context. I objected to this, and hope you do as well.

I've always respected your opinion and help RoninLB, hope this does not change.

I seen many times where red_ufo was ganged up on. He would offer an opinion regarding the post, then 8 people would successively gang up on him, calling him idiot, moron, stupid etc. Then he defends himself in a similar manner. Then it's him who's the "attacker."

I dunno, I respect moderator and it's his choice, board, job and whatever.....his decision. I wouldn't want that job. But I don't know how many times I would see red_ufo insulted beyond belief.

any reply during a discussion that leaves a member in dispair and triggers a demeaning reply is "violent" imo. This BB is a class act and members should behave like respectful gentlemen.

I make it personal rule to be amoral concerning another's values and position in my world. My range of tight friends ranges from the seriously religious to those that have done 10yrs in Marion, from CPAs to real waterfront bill collectors. Simply stated, I don't care who you sleep with.

My perception of violence is based on hard info.

good question kach.. many times I'm not clear in my replies.
Thanks.

Red flamed for sure - he was passionate about the lives of those affected by the war but he had such a bitter tongue that the intent and spirit was lost in his anger. Seems like that is the case with several posters from time to time.

No, I'm not defending RUFO. I'm also not making the conclusion that his banning was deserved. I'm not going to substitute my judgement for Z-Man's. Z does a good job, and some of us make it hard for him. It looks to me as though RUFO may have crossed the line. Certainly, it sounds like he sent some PM's that were over-the-top, and his getting around the automatic censor was over-the-top too. So again, no, I am not making judgements about Z-Man's performance. I can only imagine his frustrations with us at times.

There are times when I go a bit ballistic. Some of you only think of me in this light. So be it. But somebody's got to stand up to a fairly nasty group of liberal-haters here. A few of the posts on this thread make the observation that the neocons here get pretty darned nasty, goad folks like RUFO, etc. I'm hoping Z-Man is thinking carefully about what this collusion, whether organized or not (yes, I am certain there have been collusive PM campaigns here) is taking this Forum. But for just a few of us hated liberals, this PelicanParts OT Forum is a conservative site. I know that FreeRepublic is a liberal-free zone. That's what's happening to this Forum. I'm not sure that's good, and I'm not sure it's because liberals are more offensive than conservatives here. We're being slowly weeded out.

No. John (who is not listening). I don't think Z-Man had RUFO's politics in mind when he made his decision. One more time....I'm not defending him or second guessing Z-Man. I'm just noting that this place is fairly viciously hostile for folks of his (and mine) political leanings.

In between fighting fire with fire, and making allusions about some folks' intelligence levels, etc., which I guess I am famous for now, I sometimes try to engage the group in a discussion about the details, or the middle ground. In a recent thread regarding "What is Government?" I think I brought out some details. These are important discussions and I would like to get down to 'brass tacks.' I understand, and am learning, about the criticisms out there regarding gubmint. So, I'm thinking that we might be able to get into some specifics. It is important for our society. It is our government. But those discussions are very hard to have here. And getting harder. As I say, this place is hostile to folks who present a liberal viewpoint, and it's getting more and more monochromatic all the time. Soon, there will be only one type of viewpoint here. Then, I guess, some of you will be happy. Why don't you just go to FreeRepublic dot com where they deliberately, consciously, disallow opposing views?

Good summary. Hey, we all are passionate here in the OT-dungeon, especially when it comes to discussing politics. Many of us have gotten into heated debates and often angry exchanges ensued. However, when the red mist evaporated, we realize that we're all part of a happy, dysfunctional family. During heated exchanges, I try to patiently wait for the dust to settle. If things start to get out of hand, a gentle prodding is often required to get people to calm down. A little note in the thread is typically all it takes for people to realize that angry arguing on the internet is well, dumb.

Unfortunately, that was not the case with Red UFO. His exchanges were relentless, and his anger unyeilding, IMHO. The many warnings I sent his way seemed to have little or no effect on his attitude. He didn't 'play well with others,' and he ignored my many warnings.

Remember Mullholland? He had the same attitude as Red. A relentless, angry pursuit of his agenda with little or no regards to respecting others or the forum rules. He too, was banned. And he was quite the conservative 'neocon.'

Yes, I am a conservative. Sometimes, I voice my political and conservative opinion. But when it comes to forum guidelines and respecting each other, it doesn't matter if you're a 'neocon' or a 'bleeding liberal,' push the limits too much, and you will suffer the consequences.

Regards,
-Z-man.

It's a tough job, but the pay is good. Wait a second.... I don't get paid for this.... (Someone start a petition to Wayne to at least give the poor OT mod a discount on parts!!)
