145 in a slightly moded 86.5 928s...it was still pulling in 4th gear but I backed off. It was night and I was coming up on traffic fast and didn't want to pass a cop. I knew she'd do 150+ and I was shootin for 160 but never got another chance....

150+ moded 944 turbo wiper blades were crawling up window

135mph 88 928S4

190+ as passenger in a Lambo it was so loud I needed earplugs

Indicated 150 with plenty left in my 76 carrera 3.6 still a little leary of going flat out but at 150 if something fails it is pretty much over anyways

130mph 75 911 targa waved bye to a Z28 at about 120 when he hit the top end of his car or nerves

118mph 2003 silverado SS limited

140+ in my 98 corvette 6 speed

173mph 03 Honda CBR929 on the first day I got it

There are numerous others but these are some of most memorable

Had just picked up my new DP 935 in San Diego the day before, and on the trip back to Vancouver, BC, got it up to 150-155... uphill.

Would have kept going, except the speed limiter, aka "the wife", looked over to me and said "you can slow down now".

I never saw how fast I was going, as I wasn't really looking at the speedo (just a bit at the tach), but she had her eyes glued to it.

*sigh*

Sadly, 145+/-, at the track in my 911. Both my cars are currently capable of 160+, maybe even 170+, but I have lacked the opportunity(cojones) to do any top speed runs. That goes from traffic violation to felony offense, which I generally prefer to avoid. Quick bursts to low triple digits is multi-weekly occurance in my daily driver, to clear any valve deposits. There's just not enough pavement and too many cars in the Seattle area for any faster than that.

132 (calculated from tach) Downhill gravity assisted in a Fiero 4 banger. The needle on the 'digital' speedo went all the way around to 0 at which point it started spinning! (What a GM piece of junk)

Pushing 150 - Redline in 5th in 87 Carrera. Smooth and easy. No tail so if you jump the brakes the rear is amazingly light.

160+ (probably 164 per tach) and still pulling in a 72 Vega. Solid as a rock. Only stock parts on the car was most of the skin and some of the structure.

170+ Triumph TR8 GT1 car. Someone told us the radar trap speed on the back straight at Riverside. Wonderfully setup car, was ex GT1 national champion.

185+ in 'Champ car' at California speedway (Driving 101). Basically a 92 Reynard chassie specs with later Reynard bodywork running a 600hp smallblock. It drives like an extremely pissed off go kart. At speed Fontana seems so small that you would swear that you could throw a ball the length of the backstretch. At that speed the tires are still so lightly loaded that the car is still twitching over the asphalt seams.

maxed the 911 out, 139mph on Pearblossom Hwy, had the MINI up to 125mph on the 210E passing through Sunland and finally, rode as passenger on the 5S freeway heading toward downtown San Diego in a Carrera GT and hit 175mph twice, car was still pulling like a freight train but driver backed off due to ridiculous buffeting (tops were off).

130 mph. I was a stupid 16 year old kid in a '71 Firebird with a 400 ci engine, I believe. Not even my car, just borrowed. Driving at night, way out in the country. I was having fun until I realized that all I needed was a small animal to jump out in front of me and I would be in serious trouble. I slowed down and returned the car in one piece. Now many years later, sometimes I feel like that stupid kid again when I am driving my car fast. I rarely go over 90 now.

120 in a Trans Am GTA and the 911, have not ridden with anyone insane enough to go near that speed in Hawaii.

I did. A mid 70s opel manta wagon. 117 mph per the dial. She was shaking like there's no tomorrow. That's when i was a fearless kid on the 60 fwy in so cal.

Now I'm not so fearless. It's not so scary in a 911.

145 mph in a brand new E36 BMW M3, burning up the autobahn from Munich all the way to Paris. I was late. It is the same one in my signature, has not missed a beat yet.

I used to drive anything got my hands on as fast it go, at least one time. Now I'm kinda boring.

'65 Malibu station wagon w/2sp 283 ~90mph
'69 Torino w/351 Cleveland 120+ (buried speedo)
'74 Capri v6 120mph
'72 CB350 91mph (that seemed FAST!)
'78 Saab Turbo ~130
'80 Saab Turbo ditto
'86 Saab Turbo SPG 135+
'94 Mustang GT 140, I think it had some more

So far only 115 with the top down on my '88 911 Cab but I've only had it a few months.
