Speaking of cats

My wife and I are cat lovers. Was on my way home on a Saturday. My son had fallen asleep in his car seat. Was going at or a little above the posted limit. A cat ran out in front of me. Couldn't go left to try and avoid it and I didn't want to cram the brakes and risk throwing my sons head forward abruptly (remember he was out cold)

So over the cat I went, was going maybe 40 mph. Felt like I hit a speed bump. Got home and got my son into the house and into his crib for a nap. Went outside to check for any damage. Was missing the outer lower grill piece that goes in front of the intercooler (Jetta TDI) Went back in and told the wife I was going back to look for it.

Got to the area where I hit the cat. Was right in front of a house. Found my grill piece and thought I would be nice and go to the house and ask if they owned the cat. The confirmed they had a black cat and that he was missing. Went to go look for the carcass and we found the little guy across the street cleaning himself like little if anything happened.

They took him to the vet and the vet said he was bruised but otherwise fine. My car didn't do as well.

Intercooler air scoop shattered
Lower Intercooler Tank cracked

Cat - 1 Jetta - 0

My entire lower leg turned pretty colors and my ankle swelled up to twice its normal size.
Kinda makes my bumble bee to the chest at 75 mph seem pretty mundane. It did leave a nice bruise though.

Dang, I was going to post that I was hit in the thumb by a bumble bee, knocked my hand right off the throttle - good thing I had both hands on the handle bars at the time.

Rock to the shin when a drousy truck driver went on to the shoulder at speed - ouch. Riding boots are good for something afterall.
