The Nagels I own are no where near that resque.

I've gotten myself in trouble on another board. They accuse me of not liking the female form. That's not true. I just don't focus on one area, I view the human form as a whole.
David - I completely see your point. As a matter of fact, I was thinking about the Christian belief and this type of art (and others) and how they would coincide.

I'm still thinking about it, and will be sure to share what I come up with. This is an interesting subject, nonetheless.

David,

Many of us are Christians. Go with what your head and heart says and be comfortable.

I have lived overseas and the Europeans feel much different about the body than we Americans do. DD will have to take this into account with his marketing.

Old school for sure. For me it celebrates more of the sensual side of sexuality. The in your face modern art is just that in your face. Old school seems to try and capture at least some of the romance in sexuality. Plus I see a big difference in the bodies of the subjects. Old school isn't Rubinesque(sp?) but they aren't skinny and ripped. I'd love a collection of Vargas' work.

So Chrisitan men do not desire viewing naked women?

Or the desire is there, but they chose not to, as it is against their beliefs.

I don't believe #1, so its gotta be #2.

Lame.

What is the justification for this? Some rubish about not 'coveting' the women? Or your viewing of the 60 year old pictures somehow promotes sin?

I guess, I am being a bit of a jerk, but I would be interested to hear how viewing the pictures goes against ones faith.

btw, many of these pictures go against my belief in not view CRAP artwork. The girl with the gun on page 1.....yikes....CRAPIUS MAXIMUS.

I think you may have hit upon it.

Though I would say that Rubenesque means "curvy", not "fat slob". Many of Frazetta's women fall into the tastefully curvy category.

I guess there's a not-so-fine line...

Found this..............most of it is work safe, most of it.

Edited: if it's not work safe, then it's also not Pelican safe. -Z-man.

I have a pretty substantial art collection, and a catholic taste in representations of the female form. I own a Vargas. I have a signed book of Olivia. I have a vintage '47 pinup calendar, contemporary Bettie Page art, and lots of nude photography.

If I had to get rid of one style of pinup, it would be the contemporary stuff. Vargas-era is more subtle and artistic. IMHO, Olivia paints with real love for her subjects, but she has a faddish edge to her work.

Vargas is very nice, but how much story does he tell with one image? And the image needs to be more suggestive (albeit "cleaner") than what is seen with contemporary pinups.

When I worked on Superman and Batman, we were always up against this. Lois' skirt height in Superman was a continual battle. Even Lois' first dialogue when she sees Superman on film - "Nice 'S'," meaning the S on his chest, had BS&P (Broadcast, Standards and Practices), spinning.

We need to be careful. Pinup girls in and of themselves, have a naughty connotation to them.

In the meantime, my thoughts here are to not as much throw any cute face with a nice figure up on a canvas, but have something happening to her other than striking a pose.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most...
If I remember correctly, the Army Navy Stores in Mystic CT were selling some replica airplane panels painted with pin ups. These looked just like they were cut off a WWII bomber complete with bullet holes. These would looks nice on display.

Have seen several aircraft places selling things like this. Its not difficult to re-create and I know someone who could do it if anyone is really hurting for something like this.
