Are you planning to bed here again? It will lead down that path. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Ex-sex can be fun.

Split ups are best done cold turkey - no contact other than the essential. An ex and I saw eachother for a year after spliting up. It was kind of like we were weaning ourselves off eachother.

However... A new chicky, she may think it's a real laugh going to a shooting range and the rather empowering feeling of handing a handgun well may pull the two of you together.

Attention aussies and kiwis: there is a place out by Sydney airport where you get a half hour talk, safety talk, and handle a few handguns. Then go through to the range where you blast off about 40 rounds from a .22 pistol, about 20 rounds through a .38 revolver, 20 rounds from a 9mm pistol, 10 from a Colt .45, 6 from a .356 magnum, and half a dozen (****e, that was enough from this handgun) from a "make my day" .45 magnum. It only cost AUD$95, and they will drop you off at the airport afterwards.

Exactly what I was thinking. I know my parents still knock boots every year or so, despite being re-married.

I'd have to say its probably a bad idea, just based on the context of the hobby itself. Although it could be a new idea for an odd primal scream kind of therapy, I suppose. You could even bring pictures of each other and place them on the targets? You seem to have a pretty good sense of humor, so maybe this is up your alley?

Nostatus...just be sure there isn't a target taped to your back when you go out to change the targets....

I think a person needs all the friends/support they can get whether it's the ex or not.

I say take her. It could be fun and maybe you'll get your bone smooched. Just give her the .22, keep the 9mm for yourself.

Todds a cool dude. And he has a son who could only benefit if his parents have a healthy relationship after they have separated. Chicks dig guns. I think it's some big macho, power, danger thing with them. Granted I'd never go down this path with my ex but thats a whole different matter. Not only that but maybe it would give them a neutral venue to approach the few things they don't see eye to eye on. I'd say give it a try. What have you got to lose?

A few years back a guy was killed by his girlfriend at a local range in Bellevue, Washington. If memory serves, he was standing behind his her when she lost control of an auto .45

BAM! – the first shot went down range.
BAM! - the second shot went down range high and
BAM! BAM! BAM! until
BAM! – went straight back over her shoulder and right between his eyes!

I think the Bellevue cops had some difficult questions for her. I don’t remember if charges were filed.

Higgens or one of the other local marksmen can probably elaborate.

In any event, nostatic, I don't think it's smart to mix exes and firearms.

Dang you guys are being harsh. You all know Todds character and intent is beyond question here. And most of us don't even know his ex. And I would think that even fewer of us know the details as to why they divorced. If this woman were a total psycho I doubt Todd would even give the question a second of serious consideration. It's been my observation that some people make better friends than they do husband/wife and maybe this is true for them.

I don't recognize this new, mellow Kevin. I suspect some Dr Phil fan has hijacked his account.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Well, except maybe, "I could use another beer."

Basically true but...it wasn't her boyfriend. It was a church social event for singles. The way Jeff tells it (his friend/coworker was there) is that the chick had never handled a gun before and "the guys" thought it would be fun to have her fire a high caliber weapon (don't recall the size) with hot loaded rounds. Not exactly a good idea in retrospect.

After I divorced my daughter's mother, she used to stop by occasionally. I would share my stash with her (back when I used to do that sort of thing) until one day she threatened to call my boss & tell him that I was a pothead. Needless to say, I didn't hook her up with any more free buzz (talk about shooting yourself in the foot) & kept our relationship at a very shallow need to know basis that continues to this day.

After my daughter turns 18 next January, I hope to never speak to her again & close that bitter chapter of my life.
