Its all over the news here in Europe.

Osama bin Laden dead?

There are unconfirmed reports that the leader of al Qaeda Osama bin Laden is dead. The information apparently comes from Saudi Security sources who have in the past been said to be reliable. According to those sources bin Laden suffered from a strong bout of typhoid that left him partially paralysed whilst he was in Pakistan at the end of last month.

Saudi secret services are apparently waiting to find out more information - in particular bin Laden's burial site - before making any official announcement.

ROFLMAO!

Let's not get too excited, yet. We've been led down the primrose path before. And what about his No. 2? No let up from AQ is likely even if the rumors are true.

If he was dead, would the French and the Democrats continue trying to surrender to his dead body...or look for some other terrorist or two-bit dictator to kiss up to?

With a $25 million bounty available, you'd think a dead bin Laden would mean a claim on the money.

I can understand your bitterness, things have gone a little sideways these days.

Note how General Musharraf, who took over Pakistan in a coup is honored by the Bushistas. Note the big concern raised by the Bush administration over the military takeover of Thailand. Oh, missed it? Maybe that whole democracy thing is overrated, eh?

Like GWB said: "a dictatorship wouldn't be so bad as long as I am the dictator"

Doubt it. Even if he were, the U.S. would downplay the report and say it "can't be confirmed" (look for this in the coming hours/days). If Bin Laden is dead, the administration runs the risk of most of America saying "oh, the war on terror is over" (even though it won't be by a longshot) and losing the de facto support they've gained for all the illegal activities they've been able to pursue.

Make no mistake - OBL is worth way more to this administration alive and "out there somewhere, waiting to strike" than dead. If he's gone, they can't exploit the situation for political gain, which is virtually all they've done since 9/11/01.

Not just the administration -- there's a whole OBL industry.

The Karl Rove International Events Manipulation Control Center has been busy lately: the falling gas prices, Democrat poll numbers falling, bin Laden death rumors, clowns givng crazy-ass speeches at the UN, etc. I hope they're paying overtime.

Does anyone remember the pictures a few weeka ago of approx. 190 Taliban members at a funeral? They were taken by a drone near the Afghan, Pakistan border. We didn't attack because it was a funeral. Could it have been?
