Politcal Correctness - A Definition

Political Correctness

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

While there is something to be said for phrasing things in a manner that are unlikely to cause offence, this, generally speaking, is plain old common sense. Unfortunately, due to the fact that common sense is not as common as it should be, some people have decided that they need to tell us what we can and can't say.
The point is, political correctness is not the problem - being told what is and what isn't politicaly correct and then having it rammed down your throat everywhere you go, is.
Does that make sense?

Actually, I think they already picked it up and have moved onto the turd polishing stage by now.

FWIW, I worked for an environmental organization back when I was in college - approx 1986. And as you might imagine, most of the volunteers were hard core lefties. And I can report that back then, the term "politically correct" was used by lefties to describe the effed up fascist attitudes of tin foil hat "lefties" who gave liberalism a bad name. In other words, "politically correct" was a derogatory term similar to - but more insulting than - RINO. The term was obviously intended to conjure images of Stalinist re-education camps and the fascists who used the cloak of liberalism to hide their twisted political motivations.

So from my perspective, it was horrifying to see the lunatics take over the asylum some time in the early 90's. I clearly recall hearing people say the term "political correctlness" with pride and thinking, "Dude, do you know that is an insult?"

Just curious if anyone else had the same experience and remembers it the same way I do.

I've always heard political correctness described as intolerance of the intolerant.

You will like this one, may of read it before though.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who
has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as
knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the
worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children,
are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year- old
boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens
suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher
fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer Panadol, sun lotion or a Band Aid to a student -
but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and
wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better
treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else is
to Blame, and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

That is only a small part. But there aint many of them left to be found. Mostly it is intolerance of views and those they deem not to be "correct".

Hmmm, seems like anyone who was a leftie and worked for an environmental organization deserves all the insults that are thrown at them

Great read, also the reason why I could never get behind the liberal, Democratic platform which perpetuates these 'politicaly correct" ideas!

I just don't get the idea of not being resposibly for your own actions, or wanting a piece of somone else's pie.

We have a local car dealership that runs commercials that begin:

"Money problems? IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!"

"Bad Credit? IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!"

It pisses me off to no limit...

Yes. Mao's re-education, Pol Pot's re-education all to promote "political correctness"

So you believe in caveat emptor as national policy?
You'd like to do away with building codes?

I'd re-establish the Code of Hammurabi. That'd be about enough.

The code then regulates in clear and definite strokes the organization of society. The judge who blunders in a law case is to be expelled from his judgeship forever, and heavily fined. The witness who testifies falsely is to be slain. Indeed, all the heavier crimes are made punishable with death. Even if a man builds a house badly, and it falls and kills the owner, the builder is to be slain. If the owner's son was killed, then the builder's son is slain. We can see where the Hebrews learned their law of "an eye for an eye." These grim retaliatory punishments take no note of excuses or explanations, but only of the fact--with one striking exception. An accused person was allowed to cast himself into "the river," the Euphrates. Apparently the art of swimming was unknown; for if the current bore him to the shore alive he was declared innocent, if he drowned he was guilty. So we learn that faith in the justice of the ruling gods was already firmly, though somewhat childishly, established in the minds of men.

works for me, i can swim quite well.

And there you go..the lack of common sense.

building codes fine, BUT suing the builder because they didn't put up a 10 foot sign saying if you jump you could get hurt...no. And in my opinion that's what the liberals do. Allow for silly lawsuits and other damaging things like that.

The jumper says hey, it's not my fault why should I be responsible for my actions. I'll get some liberal lawyer and judge to give me money.
