screaming kids and MILF's. Seriously I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or get jealous.

I took that (or a similar quiz) a while back. Wound up a 911 (of course). This time, it told me I was an SLK. WTF? A hairdresser's car?

No offense intended to hairdressers or SLK drivers out there.

Porsche Crest Diving or MILFs?

Now that's humorous.

Dave, before you start asking for MILFs, make sure that you qualify it by restricting the age limit. You would look like the king of kink if you show up with a 50 year old in garters. You know the old saying, "a piece in every crease". Perhaps a young beautiful 25 year old in garters would be preferable.
I have some single, girl "friends" that are young that I can introduce you to if you are interested.

As far as the dive, I'm ready now. It might rain this weekend. I would like to find the two cars from the 30's/40's down the hill that are visible. Anyone want to join? Who knows what's in those cars? Money, jewels, bodies, stock certificates....I'm ready, Let's Roll!

By the way, embarrassingly, I'm a Corvette.

Porsche Crest Grandstands in 1974

I recieved an email from Larry O'Rourke yesterday. See below.
Larry lived just above the Sweeper. Grandstands is on the left in the photo. The dirt roadway behind Grandstands (below the fire road) is clearly visible, lots of stories there.

Chris, I just dug this out of our family archives. This was the view from the back of our house on Hazen Dr. looking out over Mulholland Dr to the hilltop that we all called Grandstands & what is now the housing development known as The Summit. Notice there are "no" houses, just the old fire road that wound up the hill.

That test really sucks ... I am NOT a Corvette damnit!

Jeff, thanks for the very interesting history on the St. Francis Dam although I almost wish I'd remained ignorant of William Mulholland's awful legacy. My 8th grader is taking a class on Catastrophes in History ... it'd be cool for her to do a report on this.
Cheers!

Chris, here's one of the sun burst. I still wish I could have fit the entire cactus into the frame.

One of three hawks having a little fun.

These were taken at Chris's house today.

A few more. Chris sure does have a lot of Lupin.

Chris has some old Nikon equipment and I put his 500mm manual focus lens on my D100. Due to my sensor, I effectively shot at 750mm. They were taken from his deck. The jet, was a hand held shot.

Hard to manually focus on a moving object.

Porsche Crest Good Photography

Dave is an excellent photographer as he has shown several times during this thread. He also has an uncanny sense for finding what is impossible to find. For example, yesterday, he found a hummingbird nest on a small branch high in the yard with a small head poking out of it, incredible.

We are going on an expedition to locate the two cars hidden deep in the trees and brush below the racecourse this morning. Photos will be posted later.

This is little off topic, but interesting.
There is a mine deep in Frasier Park that was lost long ago. It is legendary and still full of gold. The mine was known as the lost dutchman mine #2. My friend's grandfather found it by accident while hunting long ago and it's location is within a fairly small area. I think that Dave is good candidate for helping to find the lost mine. The stories that I was told were unbelievable (the grandfather stated that he accidently fell off a bluff onto a lower ledge of solid gold at the mine entrance). It was originally started by the Spaniards who used local Indians as their slaves to mine the gold. It has long been rumored to be the location of the Mother Lode of southern California. My own geologic research has verified that gold does in fact lie along east-west trending dikes in Quartz viens that are parallel to the San Andreas Fault system. I have recoverd Quartz bearing gold from similar mines (located within the dike system) below Mt. Gleason in canyon country.
Whomever finds this famous lost gold mine, can claim it under the still active 1885 mining laws by staking a claim using markers on posts every 100 feet around the claim using the appropriate forms/papers. Jeff Hailpern may have more info on this, he lives not far from Frasier Park.

Porsche Crest Elusive wrecks

Dave and I scoured the slopes below the turnout just west of Deadmans today and had no luck finding the elusive old wrecks hidden there.
There is plenty of other stuff like this car engine laying on the slope.

Way at the bottom is a park trail, it'a a long way back up to Mulholland from here.

In the middle of the hillside is this tall palm tree. It looks somewhat out of place.

Dave has found his new 911 coupe, here is the back half of it, a 73 911. The rest of it is lying nearby, it just need to be welded back together again. Call Jeff.

The recent rains has caused the vegitation to thicken up a bit, which tends to hide everything. We will have to come back after the wild cucumber dies back to find those cars.

At the very bottom is a grove of Eucalyptus. Limbs are rubbing against each other making for a very eirie sound....it's really quite spooky.

I am livid! I get home, take off my poison oak ridden clothes at the front door and run to the shower - only to find that there is no water. Well, the plumbers are installing a new water tank today and no one let the tenants know in advance and the plumbers are completely un-apologetic. I ended taking a VERY cold shower and without complete pressure at that.

Of course you're right Derek. However Dave has told me that he would like a nice stiff coupe to race at Willow. He will keep the Targa for street use.

Nice evening for a drive. Quick trip to Hollywood and a detour on the way back.

Very quiet at the course area. I actually parked for about 10 minutes and not a single car in any direction. A perfect low light photographic opportunity.

On the way out to Chris's house today, I had no traffic in front and a newer Mustang behind me that wanted to play until Beverly Glen. If my camera gear was stowed a bit better, I might have stepped on the peddle a little harder.

The mystery anomaly at Carls. Way back in the thread I posted a few other pictures I also took at night. You might remember the little snowy things in that one.

Tonight same little snowy things. Same location at Carls. I was outside the car leaning against the door facing east, no flash, no fog and took the shot. All the other pics didn't have snow.

I guess I will have to try again and see if they only occur at Carls.
Maybe it's the ghosts of Mulholland past?

I wish I had some decals with me tonight. I would have done some sign decorating.
