August Concorso Italiano
Larry O'Rourke sent me tons of photos of the August Concorso Italiano Event. Here are just a few for your enjoyment.
![]() I like the circle on the door, looks like a target. Carlisle Monke used to have a 1969 dark green Z28 with the same white circles on his doors. Very fast car. The circles are probably for numbers while in racing mode. ![]() ![]() Looks good, but is it fast? ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 07:38 AM.. |

Check out this rare Alfa.
![]() What is this? New transportation? ![]() Beautiful! ![]() I didn't know that they made four door Corvettes, ![]() ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 07:32 AM.. |

Larry took these photos as well. From Laguna Seca on August 14, 2008, Enjoy!
These are some very nice 911s. ![]() ![]() One of Vasek's old cars. I built a RC plastic model of this car and painted it silver to match my own car about 27 years ago. The car survived the 1994 quake, and is now in the attic playroom of my rebuilt house. The new house is located in the same exact spot as the old one was. From home, I can see the Racecourse to the east, and Beverly Glen to the west. ![]() I just love the slanted nose and the big tail, reminds me of an old girlfriend from Uni (University High School). ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 08:40 AM.. |

![]() Look at those rear tires!!! ![]() Grand Sport Corvette. ![]() Looks like a Porsche 906. Correct? ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 08:15 AM.. |

Look at this cute little Alfa.
![]() What motor is this? ![]() John Player made custom Nortons in the 70's, they were so cool. ![]() Now this is fast! Could it be a 917? ![]() ![]() Nice door glass. No blind spots in this car. ![]() Photos courtesy Larry O'Rourke. Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 08:20 AM.. |

Before putting the exhaust on, two exhaust studs had to be repaired.
![]() Sometimes Vice-grips work, this time it did'nt. ![]() By "double-nutting", the stud can be frozen enough to take the rusty nut off. ![]() All pieces are ready to be used. ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 05:35 PM.. |

Here is one of the 911 exhaust ports missing it's exhaust stud.
![]() This particular Stainless Steel Oil Line passes over the Porsche 915 gearbox in a most inconvenient way. It is an SOB to re-fasten. ![]() Here is the fastening point for the line clamp located over the gearbox. This time no Porsche Spider bites. Thanks goodness! ![]() The left headlamp had a small primer drool on the inside for 32 years. I took it apart to clean it, and now it is as clean as a new one. However, it looks so good I'll now have to do the right headlamp. ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-18-2008 at 05:47 PM.. |

Ooh. Lovely pics from Laguna Seca. That's something on my must-do list.
I think that beautiful Alfa is a Tipo 33/3. Their sportscar racer from late 60s/early 70s. That Ferrari looks like a 512S? Same era as the Alfa. Racecars were gorgeous back then, weren't they? Styling dictated as much by aesthetics as it was by aerodynamics. I think I have a picture of the same car, taken at a vintage event at Lime Rock a few years ago: ![]() I don't think that rearview mirror on the Rothmans 962 comes with a Porsche part number. Looks to be a Vitalloni Baby Turbo, just like the one on my motorcycle.

Incorrect. 910.
Ferrari 312P from 1969/70. John Player made cigarettes. John Player Special cigarettes sponsored JPS Lotus and Norton. No, it's a 962. Also fast. BTW, the car in my signature is the one parked behind the orange 997 GT3 RS with the meatballs on the doors. Thanks for posting!

hi guys, i'm safely back home. i'd like to thank everyone for the hospitality, fun, and informative discussions. i managed to complete the motor build and it's now installed in the 951. the owner will have to complete the wiring before it can be fired up, but it should be running again soon.
here's a video of the arrival at dirt mulholland; http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4841108040962223051&hl=en i hope to be back in the area again for a proper vacation soon!

has anyone ever heard of a fellow by the name of Jason Rosenblatt ? he used to be an active mulholland participant in the 80's.

I was getting ready to mount the header/muffler assembly.
Luckily, I noticed that one of the exhaust studs was slightly bent. This would have resulted in the nut for that stud not being able to seat in a flat position, not good. ![]() So I went looking for a new or used exhaust stud. After a couple of tries, I went to where I should have gone in the first place on such short notice, TRE. Thanks again Jeremy, I really appreciate you and Dave being there close by. ![]() Here is the new stud in position. ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-20-2008 at 11:31 AM.. |

While you guys were doing the MIRRC on Mul, Radu (and his girl), Chris, and I were up at Monterey Historics.
I lugged my hefty camera around on Sunday to catch some of the action. Watch it here, or go to the link and download it for a much higher resolution version.
