It was no big deal. Parking in front of the shop is limited to about four cars. The lady who owns the sandwich shop(green schmock) is allways complaining about Barris' guys using the spaces and then her customers (all two or three of them ) have no where to park. She got a little hot under the collar when Joji (Georges daughter who runs the place now) tried to tell her to back off and they would be gone as soon as the car got unloaded. Cops got called, girls cooled off, everyone went back to work. No harm no foul. Unless you've had one of those sandwichs.

Wow! You must be in the mainstream Kevin to know all of that, but you forgot to mention that the reason that Tony's Deli sandwiches are dangerous (and foul) is because I've heard that they are the source of all Ecoli bacteria in Studio City.

Too bad I missed photographing the catfight. Must have been fun.

Goodwood Revival honors Freddie March

The Goodwood Revival 2011 will include a homage to Lord March’s grandfather, the 9th Duke of Richmond, who took a historic win for the Works MG racing team 80 years ago in the famous 1931 Double Twelve race at Brooklands.

The 9th Duke – better known as Freddie March – was an accomplished racing driver, taking many victories for both the MG and Austin Works teams at Brooklands in the 1930s, before establishing the celebrated Goodwood Motor Circuit in 1948.
Goodwood will mark the 80th anniversary of Freddie March’s important 1931 race win at the Revival with an authentic recreation of the MG team’s Brooklands paddock, including a line-up of supercharged racing MGs from the early 1930s.

The Goodwood Revival 2011 will take place 16-18 September at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, England. In addition to Freddie March, the Revival will also spotlight the Jaguar E-Type with a spectacular one-make race.

For more information, visit Motorsport, Horse Racing, Hotel, Golf, Weddings | Goodwood.

"Just the facts, Maam, Just the Facts" a lot of the detective cars used in the original TV show Dragnet, were Barris touched

other TV car celebs
Munster mobile, Dragula, Monkees mobile, Villa Riviera (Frankie and Annette), The german helmet car (in one of the beach movies), the Sonny and Cher Mustangs.

A little Barris touch: The 550 spyder of James Dean- he had Barris paint the numbers and Lil B*stard on its rump

The car that is most definitive of Barris ?

Ala Kart

The Sonny & Cher cars went thru Barrett Jackson recently.

I always equate him with the Batmobile (original).

got to see this first hand yesterday.

i ran Mulholland yesterday after an trip to the Getty museum. the wife was a bit less than happy about the post museum drive but lunch afterward cheered her up. im a bit shocked at how beat down the road surface is. defiantly one of the worst kept roads i have driven on since moving to socal.

101 to Dirt Mulholland is the FULL stretch.
But to get a quick "Mul Experience" you just need to check out the section between Skyline (just west of Laurel Canyon) and Coldwater. That is the "race course" section. I was just up there the other day and a lot of the holes have been filled in.

Porsche Crest 12 Hours of Sebring 2011

Check it out, first Place in Vintage Class went to a Porsche 914/6

The second race of the SVRA vintage car racing season was held March 16-20, 2011 at the famed Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida. Held in conjunction with the 12 Hours of Sebring, the event is held on the same 3.7 mile, 17-turn track that is home to the American Le Mans Series race won this year by Peugeot 908 HDi of Oreca Racing.

Since the vintage racers share track time with their modern brethren at Sebring, SVRA has to group cars together much differently, opting for three race sessions – Vintage, Historic and Enduro – instead of the normal six to eight pairings.
The “Vintage Group” included cars manufactured and prepared to 1972 and earlier racing specifications, while the “Historic Group” included cars with post-1970 specifications, regardless of year of manufacture and certain earlier cars deemed more appropriate for this group.

The SVRA 12 Hours of Sebring field of approximately 70 race cars included such heavy hitters as the 1986 Rothmans Porsche 962 of Johan Woerheide, Byron DeFoor’s Lola T70 Mk III and the 1980 BMW M1 of Peter Angelos, in addition to the 1948 Allard K1 of Peter McManus and a myriad of nicely prepared Porsches, Datsun and MGs.

Photographer Michael DiPleco documented the 2011 SVRA 12 Hours of Sebring vintage race with a great collection of 80 pictures that capture the late day sun and solid line-up of cars that tackled the Sebring track

SVRA 12 Hours of Sebring 2011 – Vintage Race Group Results (7 laps)

1. Kevin Wheeler, 1970 Porsche 914/6 (2:24.297 fastest lap)
2. Richard Lind, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
3. Tom Yeager, 1964 Merlyn Mk VI
4. Scott Hughes, 1972 BMW CSL
5. Jack Lewis, 1970 Porsche 911 RS

SVRA 12 Hours of Sebring 2011 – Historic Race Group Results (9 laps)

1. Andy Wallace, 2005 Audi R8 (2:00.499 fastest lap)
2. Jeff Bernatovich, 1990 Chevrolet Corvette GT1
3. Chris Burson, 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
4. John Woerheide, 1986 Porsche 962
5. Peter Angelos, 1977 Kudzu DLM

SVRA 12 Hours of Sebring 2011 – Enduro Race Group Results (26 laps)

1. Andy Wallace / Bill Adam, 2005 Audi R8 (1:58.277 fastest lap)
2. Hayes Harris / Randy Pobst, 2000 Lola B2K40
3. Jeff Bernatovich, 1990 Chevrolet Corvette GT1
4. Chris Burson, 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
5. Peter Angelos, 1977 Kudzu DLM

Got out to LA, stayed in Laural Canyon on Grandview. Hit Mulholland in a new turbo. Took it easy for the most part, saw it and felt it. Awesome. Also rode my motorcycle on Sunset. Although two minor things, I go them off the list. Went to the mountains where they were still skiing in Wrightwood. Hit the beach for breakfast in Malibu where it was 70 degrees. I do miss that about Cali.

Porsche Crest The Top of the Esses

Two of the most dangerous turns on Mulholland are located at the top of the Esses and at the bottom of the Esses. Incredible accidents occur here.

Looks like last weekend someone had a run-in with a telephone pole at the top of the Esses.

What a mess!

Sheared in two, Ouch!

Paving Daytona Speedway

A real gravity problem. Interesting solution.

Not only is this a true engineering project feat, but it gives you a better perspective of the pitch of the track itself.

Mulholland is inside a racing simulation now! Here is a video of myself driving it! lots of fun!!!

YouTube - Rfactor Mulholland Drive with charley Woit Vette

Me driving a 65 Vette on Mulholland. From Skyline Shutdown right up to 405 freeway. Burnout at Marlon Brando's house using racing simulation Rfactor. I still have a fair bit of work to do, I'm unsure how the pits looked like in the 70's and 80's? most of the photo's ive seen dont focus on the pits.
