I was only 1 year old when Lynne Seemayer painted The Pink Lady. I went to summer camp in Malibu and it had already been covered up with brown paint by that time. You could still tell it was the odd outilne of a human figure though.

Some things gone but not forgotten.....

I lived a couple blocks from the Victory Drive In Theater. For growing families on the cheap Drive Ins were in. Many a movie seen through the windshield of a station wagon. Matt and Tonys Submarine Sandwichs was right across the street.
I remember watching the wrecking ball topple the screen when it was torn down . Movies I remember seeing there... "Planet of the Apes", "Tora, Tora, Tora", "Dirt Mary Crazy Larry", also "Little Fauss and Big Halsey" .

Busch Gardens: It was a pretty cool place for a little kid. Mom and Dad would go beer tasting and I would be loose running around the park.

Didn't everyone buy records and 8 tracks at Licorice Pizza?

Any guesses on where the photo in the last post was taken? Doesn't look like Mul. The only spot I can come up with is near the top of the front side of GMR.

I was driving home across Mul earlier and had my action cam and mount with me so I figured I'd grab some quick footage. This isn't anything approaching a run but maybe it'll give some of the people reading this thread from elsewhere in the world an idea of what driving the course at night is like. From the start to the part midway with the lights is the "race track" everybody talks about.

Can't say for sure. VWP Magazine did a lot of photo shoots up on Golden State Hwy west of the 5 off Templin. It looks like that area.

A bit off-topic but does anyone know if they will ever re-open old HWY 39 connecting Azusa Canyon Rd to Angeles Crest HWY?

No money to do that. So much was washed out that it would mean starting over in some sections.

Chris will finish the book in his own time. Over the years since he penned his first draft new information has come to light that adds to the history of Mulholland Drive and its cast. Sometimes you just have to put the pen down for a bit, let the story unfold on its own and go back to fill in the blanks...then re-engage.

As far as locating all those cars that went over the side? Chris was way ahead of everyone. He mapped out most of them long ago. Those scavenger hunts are a blast. Anyone who has ever been hiking in Fryman Canyon will know that rains over the years have hidden many of them and uncovered some surprising artifacts.

The twisted hulks in the chute below Carls have long been hauled away except for a certain half buried MG and VW. If you hunt around bits and pieces are scattered across the notorious debris field which is really more of a "hurt zone".

If you like to hike, don't mind yellow jackets, ticks and poison oak you are encouraged to take a look. You never know what treasure you might find.

It isn't over...
