Yes, but that turnoff from Templin has a (closed) gate/fence across it, prohibiting access. Had a couple free hours as I was coming back from Bakersfield today, and took the scenic route back.

What I found surprising about Templin was the amount of elevation change. From the intersection with Ridge Route, it's ALL downhill... sort of like Stunt or some other Malibu adventure. Only A LOT FASTER. Sweeping turns with a few blind tight corners... and these subtle deviations in road surface that, at speed, tend to throw you up in the air. Combined with Ridge Route, awesome time! Of course, it's sort of a trek getting there.

What I found surprising was the UPS truck barreling around a blind corner at me!

But yes, there are a lot of ripples in the pavement that upset the chassis right at key corner-entry moments.

Too cool. My theory is that D.B. planned the crime very well. I think he jumped at a very specific location because he had resources waiting. He was organized well enough to pick the type of plane he could exit in flight, request a number of chutes to avoid a sabotaged rig and requested the just enough cash to jump with. Anymore cash would have too heavy to jump.

After pulling the motor recently, I was able to inspect it well.



This is a shot with the MFI pump still on the motor for reference.



Now on it's engine stand and off of the floor, it looks much better. The engine next to it on the right is my old SCCA-A sedan Camaro engine. I sold the car with the spare motor installed. This engine that I kept (on the stand) is a LT1 350 Chevrolet engine with Crane roller rockers, 30/30 service cam (1969 Z28 solid lifter), forged steel crank/rods with flash grinding/polishing (magnifluxed included), 2.02 hi-perf heads with Z28 guide plates, Sig Erson racing double springs with titanium retainers, TRW forged Aluminum hi compression (11:1) pistons, Milodon right and left turn racing deep sump, Unilite distributer, power pulley, fuel pump block off, and a Edelbrock Scorpion-Tarantula intake manifold with a divided plenum. It usually ran best with a Holley 850cfm double pumper carburator. This motor has about 50 miles on it and produces approximately 420 horsepower. Might be fun in a 911 body.

After doing much reading and some talking to experts, this is the stuff to use to free up a Porsche MFI pump.
A friend found it in gallon size for me, here it is.



The pump needs to be shimmed up off of the container bottom with metal so only the control rack and pistons will be submerged.



Now the pistons are at the correct level for total submersion.



Here is the other side of the pump. We are ready to free the poor little baby.
Soon, I want to be singing, "Free at last, free at last, thank god almightly it's free at last".

At Noon the MFI pump was submerged. It will be checked every 6 hours.



All working parts that have been exposed to fuel are under Chemtool.
