Thanks Derek! I owe you - for the inspiration that was created by this thread that you began over 2 years ago. My baby runs and drives Mul again. If I can do something for you, please let me know.
Don't worry, you are still getting a FULL demo. That's the least that I can do.

This thread is the epitome of unintended consequences. A guy asks a simple question, "What happened to the Mulholland "King of the Hill" RSR?" and look what happens. Amazing, ain't it!

Cheers,

Looking great Chris. Congrats on getting her running again and the article in an upcoming Excellence. Seems to be a perfect story and car for a great article. It is just awesome that you have kept this car so long and in such good shape. She just drips with Mul history - way cool. That is just one bad looking ride. Lowered roof line, flares, fat tires, titanium roll bar, shaved drip rails, ect.... There is just so much that is trick about this car. I would love to see it go in the flesh.... Very nice Chris. Enjoy.

Chris, seeing the RSR in all its glory is like opening a perfect time capsule. It not only takes me back to the street-racing of a mis-spent youth on the open roads of the 1970's (in NorCal in my case) but also to a Dave Deal uber-Porsche drawing come to life:

Whoa! Are you saying Sally Carrera coulda been a 930?! Much more curvaceous than a 996, certainly.

I think that the hot rod was Lassiter's car -- Sally was always a stock 996 (a girly car, don't you think?).

Long time since I dropped in here.

I remember John Clark from being in Pacific Sports Car Club with him (A SCCSCC member club) in 1970-1974. He ran the same Lotus Elan back then. Dr Fred Mc Clung was in the club too with his Elan that he and Dave Bean drove in SCCA Cal Club events. John Norris and his dad were in the club also, along with Tom O'Conner(510 four door), some guy named Devendorf, Russ Kissenger from Flying Tigers, Ed Johnson (240Z) and many others.

I first ran the A/Sedan as a shakedown at the Dodger Stadium SCCSCC event in 1973. They had mirror image courses layed out side by side so two cars could run at a time. The previous year, I won K class championship in my red Boss 302.

Why do you say street racing was "mis-spent" youth?

The "youth" not the "street racing."

Wow. Pretty exotic, even for Cars and Coffee.

This is how she looked when we did a cereal toy promotion in Europe and South America.

The Boxster key is for scale.
