ps3 or x360
Bored last night while out of town, so I spent too much time hanging out in bestbuy....
I've been considering a ps3 so I can play some of the newer racing games on my big screen but watched someone playing transformers on an x360 last night. It got me looking at both machines and now I'm wondering what to get. PS3 is $500 and plays my few ps2 games, includes a HD (whatever that is for), so I can keep my GT4 and wait on GT5. x360 is $300, no HD (but is optional), is high res, but no GT4. It does play Forenza2 (never tried it). Looks like there are a lot more games available for x360 right now, but the PS3 shelves are starting to fill up. What do you guys play? TIA

Wii is suprisingly fun, but the games seem to lack depth.
I vote PS3, because of the GT series. Otherwise, all the games I like (EA Sports) are available for both, so it's a wash.

Sony just announced yesterday that they are cutting the price on PS# by a $100.
Can't tell you which one to get as I have never used either. Although I have used the Wii and it is fun to play with others, it doesn't seem like a video game format that would match up well with race games. But I've only played golf, baseball, bowling, etc on the wii so maybe there is a great racing game. Rich

I've heard some people have a sore wrist after playing with their Wii for too long...

You will get a lot more use from a 360. I unfortunately have both systems. As they are both great systems, the 360 has way more games available at this time. The ps3 does have Gran Turismo series but there are some driving games like forza 2 that are as good.
There are other strenghts for the 360 if you choose to use them. The interface / menu system is far superior to the ps3. Then there is the online content you can download. A monthly membership is required for around $8 month. It does cost a few dollars to download most items also. These downloads include full length movies and tv shows in regular and high def. Additional content for the games is also included here. You can attach a web cam camera to the 360 and video chat with anyone on the 360 network. the online chat functions are easier to use and you can chat with the other live competitors while you are racing. For an additional $200 you can add a HD DVD drive to the 360. The ps3 is a good system also. The menu system is not as polished and easy to use. The graphics are said to be better than the 360 but i disagree. There are not many good games available yet but you do get a blu-ray player included in the cost of the system. I would go to a store and find someone working there who you can get along with demo each system for you. |

I would go PS3
Only PS3 and Blue Ray has 1080P output - and the PS3 has the Blue Ray built in. The games and picture are just awesome!!!

I have a younger brother who purchased the Wii. I tried fishing in the Zelda game and was surprised, it actually was fun.

We have all 3 consoles...
Here is my take: XBox360 Good games, good online, now with 3yr warranty. PS3 Overpriced even with $100 discount, no games, graphics same as xbox. GT5 will be good...is it worth 600 for one game? Who care if it has blue ray....unless your tv is 1080p and u get one of those overpriced blue ray discs then it is all the same. Wii A total blast. Games are simple, graphics are simple. Console is cheap. Fun with friends, controller is fun.... Overall Wii....most recommended. Xbox recommended. PS3 Waste of money.

I think there is a reason why Wiis are still selling out on the day they arrive at retailers 8 months after they came out and in the middle of the "slow" summer video game season.
That said, if I was a hard-core gamer (which I am not--I was, but I just don't care now that I have a fast car), I would look at the Xbox.

This is one of the main reason I went PS3
The PlayStation 3 comes with an array of data storage and transfer features. Whereas the PlayStation 2 only supported a memory card and the optional hard drive attachment (for a brief time), the PlayStation 3 supports numerous forms of portable media. The PlayStation 3 has 6 USB 2.0 ports, a memory stick slot, an SD slot, and, in stark contrast to many of Sony’s other consumer electronics products, the system actually supports compact flash. Sony even saved a space for a removable 2.5” hard drive. The Xbox 360, in comparison, doesn't have as much in the way of media support. It has two memory card slots and a handful of USB ports that are rumored to accommodate a host of devices like the iPod, USB memory sticks, and even Sony’s own PSP. However, the real power of the 360 is in its networking ability. We can't forget that Bill Gates's new system can also reach across the network to access media from local, Windows-based PCs. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6125087/index.html?type=tech

I vote for the PS3 also. You can not get a Blue Ray DVD player for the cost of this system. The games will come. It's still more then I'm willing to part with. I don't use my PS2 that much either. The only games I have are Tiger Woods (multiple years), Madden (multiple years), and GT3 and GT4.

The forza series is much better than the GT.
The blue ray player is the only good thing about the ps3, but you can get an HDdvd add-on for the 360 for $200. 360's game selection is MUCH better and the system is more powerful too.

I do have the 1080i TV.....
I looked at the games for the x360 and didn't see much other than the forza2 and the transformer game that I would think were worth trying. ps3 had more driving games that were up my alley. May end up that route.

Xbox, Forza2 rocks and is available now. GT5 is delayed, yet again. Xbox has a much deeper library of games.
If you want blue ray, why not just get a blue ray player?

Can anyone actually sitting on their couch actually visually see a difference between a blu-ray and a HD-DVD?
My money would be on NO. And isn't HD DVD significantly cheaper? Sorry that is way off topic for the original post, I'm just curious.
