Mail Order Bride

My weird friend Dustin wants a wife. It’s really just about all he talks about. I have tried to talk him out of it so many times but I guess it is just that important to him. So rather than continuing to tell him that he is an idiot I have decided to try and help the bastard ruin his life. Apparently, he wants a Japanese woman. Do any of you guys know where one can "order" a Japanese woman? companies, or websites? I have a feeling that once I get some info for him and make a few phone calls he will change his mind. Maybe some of you guys have horror stories to tell about someone you know that did this? I could relate those stories to my friend.

Isn't Japan already facing a low birthrate and declining population? Not exactly the attributes of a country that exports its women.

Now Russia and China...bad economies, rampant corruption and overpopulation. Although don't men outnumber women in China?

Slak, if your friend is serious (and you are about helping him), you should make him read up on the horror stories many cross-cultural, overseas courtships become even before marriage, let alone the bureaucratic nightmare of getting a bride to the US on a fiance visa. The wait is more than a year, even from civilized places like Japan. He's much better off finding an Asian lady here, who doesn't need a Green Card, knows our way of life, is employed or immediately employable, etc. My own fiance is from China, came here on a student visa (literally won a lotto to get that), converted it to an H1 when she got a good job after she graduated, which she's had for a year and a half, is about to marry me and we're still looking at a nightmare for immigration stuff right after the wedding. My own experience with my Japanese friends, the ones who just work here, but have no interest in staying here permanently, is that they are the nicest people in the world, but just impossible to ever get to really know. The language and culture is so opposite ours. I can't imagine a serious relationship with a Japanese woman who's never lived in the US is gonna be easy. Having been to China a few times and being about as familiar with that culture as an American can be, there are still huge cultural and language issues to overcome. Chinese men outnumber women there by 119 to every 100. It's bad. Yet, China has millions of women who want to marry western men. A dear female friend of mine, who's 24 yrs. old and highly educated, well off, etc., was just denied a tourist visa to come to the US because the the consular officer thought she might have intentions to stay. This, despite my inviation letter and after she put thousands of dollars in escrow with our embassy and has been to Europe a few times and always come home. I imagine fiance visas are a real PITA too.

There are also mail-order brides from many other countries around the world, such as China, Russia, the Ukraine, just to name a few. While the Japanese mail-order bride is by far the most famous, she is not the only mail-order bride to be found.
