Hmmm...I've been thinking of getting a Savage 93R (.17 HMR). I keep telling myself to get a 10/22, but that Savage is just too cool...and I'll get a 10/22 some day anyway.

Look at the EAA Biathlon.... If you can find one they are availible in .22 and .22mag get the .22 mag and you will only need one gun.... They are very nice and I can assure you very, very accurate for the amount of money you will spend. you will also love the action...truly one of a kind beautiful, nice handling and feeling rifle....and a very nice conversation piece... I believe these rifles will rapidly go up in value over the next ten years or so because I don't think they are brining anymore into the country.... but I may be wrong...

I have a Ruger 10/22, fun gun to plink with I have a folding composite stock, for that evil assault look.

Truly the 10/22 is probably the best semi auto .22 ever made... very versatile and accurate even with the cheaper non bull barrel versions....

I've been toying with the idea of buying one of these:

Pwd72s,

Have owned a couple Steyr's and have been happy with them. Would also suggest maybe getting a M1A or M1A socom and putting a JAE100 stock on it from West Texas Armory....
will give you semi auto performance and great accuracy and can use open sights or scope. For the amount of $ you would spend on the Steyr... Just an option ......

I personally have an M1A, I shoot open sights only..... at 50 yards I can put 20rds through a bullseye the size of a nickel.... at 100 yards I keep them all within the size of a coke can....... about 2 inches away from the bull at 2 o'clock position..... using military surplus ammo......

It doesn't look like EAA makes the Biathlon any more.

Yeah, similar for me: Ruger Mini 14 (originally a ranch, but now with plastic folding stock). Looks serious.

You are doing the right thing, tabs. Mother will be much happier in the long run when she sees her beloved son starting to make some adult decisions.

You don't need an old Porsche, do you realize this is the 21st century and how many children are killed by cars every year, and how many die because of power windows or how many die from Environmental hazards??

Just because you aren't responable enough to own guns doesn't mean those of us who chose too shouldn't. I don't feel the need to own my guns, I just want them. Youi should give up your porsche sence you really don't need an old car like that, I'll give it a good home (72 is one of my favorite years) and I won't put a gun rack in it Even though I can, I don't carry any weapons on me. Now, if someone breaks into your home, since you may have an anti gun decal on one of your cars, the beat your ass and rape your wife in front of you while you wait for help, if the break into my home BANG game over, they are carried out. You guy goes on to rob & rape again, mine is worm food.
Byron, I'm hurt. You should know me better than that by now.

While I won't divuldge how many firearms I own, I will show y'all a sampling of calibers for which I reload. You will notice some obviously have more than one load, with different bullets seated in the same cases (.45 Colt, .45 ACP, .220 Swift, .30-06, .45-70, etc.). Some are fired in different guns, some in the same gun for different purposes (hunting vs. plinking vs. match shooting). Some are smokeless powder, some are black powder (.45 Colt, .45-70, .45-2.6). All cast bullets are produced in my own molds from Lyman, RCBS, Saeco, Paul Jones, LBT, Hoch, and others. Bullet lubes are home made.

I don't think they are, but if you can find a pic of one you will fall in love with it... once you put it in your hand it and put it up to your cheek it will be all over... If you check gun broker, guns america etc... you can find them sometimes... if you do, grab it.... you will not be disapointed.....

The bolt on these guns is awesome.... simply pull back and then forward. none of the conventional up back forward down movement. And they do come with I believe a 5 and ten round magazine.

futuresoptions - there are straight pull actions from Mauser (way old, 100 years or so then some) that are still shootable in "serious" caliber like 8x57r ....

Cool

Yeah I know, There is a swedish straight pull Mauser that I have been thinking about buying...... The problem is when I started collecting guns I bought anything that interested me...... My safe filled up fast and I found that I had so many different calibers, that keeping up with ammo became a hassle..... I eventually decided to keep only a few calibers and trade in the rest to purchase guns in the calibers that I decided to keep..... I had decided to go on .40S&W and .22 on pistols.... 7mag , .308 , 7.62X39, .22 and .22 mag on rifles and .12 gauge on shotguns.... Really this is why I got rid of my Garand, my K98 mauser and my three enfields to name a few...... So eventhough I would really like that swedish mauser, I know that adding another caliber would start me off in the wrong direction again....... The truth is I want them ALL!!!

Here's a Pic of one of my Baby's

Remington 700 PPS in .308win w/8X32x44 scope w/ dual dove tails

I guess in a way I became more of a Quality over Quantity type of guy.... When I go to the range... for me it is not how many rounds I can get down range......for me I challenge myself to be as accurate as I can be...... if I end up with anything more than a 2-3" group at 100yds I feel emotionally bad... like I let myself down.... it happens sometimes, but every once in a while I will even surprise myself with some of my shooting.......
