Good luck with the hunt Charles.......

Onewhippedpuppy... everyone's collection usually starts with one..... then it goes down hill from there..... The hardest part of it is, is when you already have a full safe, on how you are able to explain to your wife why you need another one..... Sometimes you have to be very creative in order to make it work... LOL

My wife pulled the ultimate fast one on me years ago. She bought me a safe. At first, I thought she was an incredibly "with it" kind of gal. How many wives would buy hubby a gun safe? Little did I realize just how devious of a plan she had hatched. Now I had a finite, known capacity for gun storage - she would know every time from henceforth whenever one followed me home. I'd been well and truly out-smarted. Not that that is all that hard, but by my wife? A very humbling experience. Guys, keep your eyes on them...

Hey Jeff,

Use my approach...."Hey dear, I seem to have no room with all that ammo in the safe, I think that I am going to give it to you for your jewlery and the kids guns, I'll go ahead and move it into the storeroom for you......" Worked for me LOL

I'd like to add a semi auto Benelli 12 ga to shoot clays with. If you haven't done this its a blast.

I have one 13-long-gun safe. I'd say it could realistically hold 8 long guns. I also have a smaller digital safe on top where I keep ammo and handguns. Two of my four long guns are hanging on the wall. (One is not fire-able, one was a $65 single shot shotgun. Both have trigger locks.) So I have room for 6 more long guns and maybe 6 more handguns. And yes, I will need a second long-gun safe at some point.

Too bad I already bought my wife a jewelry safe....

I was the guy who voted that he only had one gun. I just keep that around so I can hang it over the fireplace.

My gun safe is pretty lame and needs upgrading as soon as I get a real house. I have a SIG in my nightstand and my Mossberg on top of it and I usually keep a SIG in the car. So that frees up some gun safe space. If I had Jeff's problem, I'd probably relocate a few rarely-used guns to a safe-deposit box, so the home safe never seems to get filled up. I keep my ammo in tins on shelves in the closet next to the safe. Nice to have no kids around.

I got lucky, my wife is from a small town in central KS, and has a dad that loves to hunt. She shot a 12 gau way before I did! My 1911 was a Christmas gift last year from my wife and father-in-law, worse comes to worse, I'll just ask for another this year.

the kids bb guns are in the safe (4) for a couple of reasons.

1. so the can't shoot out windows and other dumb things

2. so that they can't shoot each other ( I guess thats a repeat of the end of line 2)

3. it kinda camoflages all of whats in the safe

4. the wife thought the Garand was my M1a

anyone in so-cal with a Colt mustang or pocketlite for sale?

I NEED one

Just cause you have more barrels, does not a gun make.

ATF says it's the serialized frame...

But then, they also say a piece of string is a machine gun. Go figure.

I've sold one gun in my entire life, an early stainless barreled Remington 700 in 7mm mag. Had no use for it, and at the time, it was nothing special. Darn.

Traded away a few. The notable ones that got away include an original flat spring, thick side Highwall in .40-70 Sharps Straight. Couldn't get it to shoot for love or money, at least until it belonged to some one else. My buddy sent it to John King (at my suggestion), who reamed the undersized chamber to modern specs. Loaded with reformed .30-40 Krag brass from my buddy Dave Gullo, it shoots wonderfully. My buddy had no idea how to put up black powder ammunition, so I did it all for him from casting bullets to loading the ammo once he got it back. If I had had any sense whatsoever, I would have told him it still wouldn't shoot...

Another was a hunting weight Remington Hepburn in .45-2.4 (aka .45-90). Half round / half octagon barrel, rifle butt plate, all original. This one shot great. I'm still wondering how I got talked out of that one...

Since a large part of my shop's business is used firearms I like to think I got a fairly good deal on most of them. In the event of my untimley demise my greving widow knows who to call to liquidate them for a reasonable profit.

I recently sold my P7 for $1100, which is what I had into it. Recently a lot of German police turn-ins have flooded the market and they're availble for around $600 now. I'm probably gonna pick a beater up just to hold onto and eventually have Robar refinish it.

I have a 13yr old daughter and a 9yr old daughter..... The nine year old has been driving go karts solo since she was 2.... The thirteen year old was racing 5hp go karts at the local dirt track at 6.... I bought them each a singleshot .410 at 4/8yrs old. That year They also received Their red ryder's, their multipump pellet rifles and their single shot .22's (Three month's later had to upgrade them because they were convinced that they needed a magazine like mommy and daddy.... go figure...). They also got their blow guns that year... The first thing that I did was take them in the back yard with a dozen grapefruit and allow them to shoot their new .410's at them after getting a long lecture on firearm safety.... I think the destruction let alone the recoil made the message sink in...
I allow them to keep their non fire arms in their room along with all of their pocket knives. They never offer to bother getting them out or anything of the sort unless we are going to the lease or going to the range.... I did buy them some everlast boxing gear (Gloves. headgear and mouthpiece) and some foam padded wooden samurai practice swords and they will put on all their gear and go out in the front yard and literally beat each others A$$, but that is about the most of their mischievousness...... What blows me away is that everytime I go to the local gunshop I always ask them if there is anything that they see that they might want and they both say no.... they are content with what they have in the way of firearms right now...... I know this will probably change as they get a little older, but it is nice getting out of the gunshop with only purchasing a pocket knife or led flashlight for now....

My wife just did the same to me when she saw me going nuts buying knives. I outfoxed her, though. I've got her sewing felt pouches so I can put the knives closer together in the safe without risking damage to them.
