I can see why people like the stuff. To me, it tastes strongly of licorice. Kind of like a watered-down Jagermeister. Like General Tso's Chicken, the flavor creeps up on you over time. Even cut with water, it is medium-bodied. After one glass, my mouth was coated and my taste-buds numb.

Time for a second glass...
Legion--how did you feel next day? And did you use sugar as well? I just bought some Absinthe for a friend who will likely share. Thought you were supposed to dribble the ice water over a sugar cube into the absinthe. I know that the stuff is supposed to be nearly hallucinogenic...and make you feel like absolute dog crap the next day...

Cheap stuff tonight: Black Box Cab. Actually, it's actually pretty good. I am not impressed with the Chardonnay or the Merlot. Lot's of guests, with no "training", so no point in the good stuff.

Lots of stuff this weekend:

O'Reilly's White Chocolate liquor. Think "lower rent" white Baileys. $9.99 a world market. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing.

"Roam" red wine. From California. Had a photo of a motorcycle on it...most wine is sold by the label. This was no exception. Non-exceptional. $9.99 at World Market as well.

Magic Hat from the neighbor's kegerator.

Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic. Nice sweet wheat beer for the holidays.

I drink so little, that I tend to mix and match to ill results when I have the opportunity.

Just tapped it a few minutes ago.

Earlier this afternoon, Jim Beam Black Label, slight drip of water to cut it, and a little powdered sugar and honey. Was actually quite good...

I felt fine the next day. I've had a few glasses the past week. I like it better when the bottle is straight from the freezer. No sugar...I think it's sweet enough without.

Thought I'd revive this thread as it's one of my OT favorites. IMO, PPOT at its best--you can have the political BS.

So, what are you drinking tonight? Here's my current favorite (sadly, though, now I'm drinking iced green tea):

Cheers,

Jack

Just a basic Bacardi and Diet Coke tonite, but last Saturday night I was at a birthday party and pitchers of Caipirinha were being consumed like so much water. (At least, that's what I remember... )

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, Brazilian Cacacha!
