I had forgotten about this thread...I'm now at 185. 85 pounds down from my highest point. Feeling great. The waist size is now 33, down from 42.

Hope you guys are all doing well.

I'm not doing so hot.

Self control is lacking.

Reaching my goal by Aug 6th looks shaky.

Big Ed,

Excellent job! Keep it up!

Do consider your height. As I am not sure how tall you are, perhaps 185 would be it. I am 5'9" and at 160 so I think I am ok.

BTW, 20 more pounds and you should be banned from this site. Then you could re-register and name yourself Little Ed!

I have been pretty much stuck as well. Those last 6-8 lbs are a beotch. Motivation and time to exercise are the main issue as I think I have significantly improved my diet. I do feel better though.

I'm 6' tall. My original goal was 184, which is the highest "healthy" BMI value for my height. I'll probably get to 175 or so, I still have a bit of a gut to lose.

20 more pounds is out of the question, given my frame size. I'm actually quite content right where I am, still making healthy choices but not focusing on continued weight loss per se.

Those of you who have faltered...keep in mind that a healthy body is not a competition with a limited duration. So you fell off the horse..nobody's perfect. Remind yourself why you started in the first place and commit to getting back on track! I had plenty of bad days during my period of weight loss, I just didn't allow them to make me revert to my old ways. YOU CAN DO IT!

I'm 6'1', small frame (pencil neck geek) ans was at 200lbs until a few weeks ago, now I'm at 191. I've been eating 75% vegetarian with only fish, chicken and turkey, no red meat or alcohol at all. I'm feeling better!

I'm going to lose 40-50#'s by Aug 6th before I turn 40.
Well, I fell flat on my face.
I lost 5#'s at the end of the whole party.

All I can do is keep trying.

Self control around family and friends regarding food is not a strong point with me.

Trek, having met you now, I can tell you , 40-50 was way too much weight,, I'd set your goal of 20 at a time, you're not much heavier than me..
Get back on that horse and ride it.. I'm in the same boat!!
I'm signed up for NCRC in Fernley the 13th and 14th.. I'll be happy to weigh in and have a contest with you to see who can lose the most by then..

+1. The wife and I really really enjoy food (namely pasta) with some wine.

My weight loss was short lived. I started drinking a glass of wine with dinner again right about when my knees waved the white flag to running. If I run more than 2x a week my knees ache and I walk around like an old man.

I'd like to starting riding the MTN bike more but struggle to find the time and energy.

From my restaurant days : 'portion control'.

Yes, I like seconds, and leftovers...

Why did food have to be so delicious?!?

I'm in. Currently 5'10" and 180. I need to lose some weight. I have been watching what I eat, I am trying to get to the gym about 4 or 5 times a week. I think my Achilles' heel right now is the beer. Only on weekends from now on.

My friend told me that I shouldn't run, that I should do a fast walk on a steep incline on the tread mill. He said that if my heart rate is too high that I will burn muscle and not fat. We shall see how that goes.

Damn. I am back to a tick under 200. I had gotten to 194-ish on my way to a 190 target. I should probably aim for 185 but that's too optimistic.

Crap. I guess I may actually have to start exercising. All the travel/eating out and desk work is a killer.
