My thinking was that perhaps you would be coming to the area. You are the one talking out of your ass, not I. Being dubious about the veracity of a statement is a bit short of calling someone a liar.

There is nothing that you could do or say that would be worth $50,000 dollars to me, that is a ridiculous proposition. Personally, I have very little regard for the things you say, and have no doubt whatsoever I am not alone in this sentiment.

Tobra's "offer" was for me to travel to the other side of the world for a lousy $100! Would you do that? I replied if that is the offer then Tobra would have to make it worthwhile for me. That is hardly an unreasonable request.

As far as France's failed social system they are doing pretty well. Lets see, in the top ten in GNP, number one in health care quality multiple times, only space program in the black, 80%+ electrical power from nuclear, 220 mph train service, number one tourist destination for over 40 years, independant nuclear force (still a pretty small club), more productive per hour worked than the US, great family values, fantastic food (sets the world standard), great currency value...............

Yes, that all spells out failure.

And again, the repetition of the (American only BTW) myth that somehow the French are not very brave. Really, do you have any actual knowledge of history? Or do you just repeat any BS as long as it makes you feel good.

Your insults concerning France only highlight your ignorance, they don't affect me at all. Hell, keep repeating the France BS, I will enjoy France even more without the crowds in my area. I could not care less if you personally want to continue down the same failed direction Bush jr. has set you on, but I do care if the US continues to do so. You obviously do not.

Not at all. I made an offer, that would be very reasonable if he were planning to come to the US, SF is just his kind of town, and only a few hours away from my home. He countered with an offer that is simply ridiculous.

If he were serious, his response would have been more along the lines of, "How about I send a photocopy of the documents and $100 to a third party, say you for example, and Toby sends $100. Jim sends the $200, less postage, to the winner." l would be amenable to this, because anyone who likes Ike is aces with me.

It was the US need for French support in Europe against the Soviet threat in the late 40's and 50's that led to the US supporting French colonial claims in Indo China. That was a grave mistake which the US has paid dearly for, since the US saw red and didn't realize old uncle Ho was a nationalist first and a commie second. Uncle Ho's role model was none other than Thomas Jefferson.

Also it was De Gaulle that had the affront of demanding that Gold be exchanged for American tourist dollars in 1967. As America had pegged the price of Gold to $35 an oz it was keeping the US currency artifically high while the US was running deficeits because of its military adventure in Indo China. It was also about this time that France withdrew from NATO.

The French like most Europeans have relied on the US to provide a military shield. If the Europeans had to bear the full cost of their defence the economic situation in France as well as Europe would be quite different. Military spending is a drain on any economic system as it produces nothing that enhances an economy.

With regards to the French Nuclear arsenal, they can say thanks to America.

Not only that but it was Grape Vines from CA that has saved the French Wine industry. They had a virus that virtually wiped out the French vineyards. Besides that wine from CA is now considered to be on a par with French wine IF NOT BETTER.

You and your ilk are the one who questioned my honesty and came up with the bet idea.

Then you made an offer that was reasonable working with an assumption you had no verification of. Seems to be a trend with you, or is your reading comprehension so poor that you did not know that I'm in France? I pointed out in my reply it was a ridiculous offer and requested to make it worth my while to travel half way around the world or come up with something better. If you think your offer was so reasonable then let’s reverse it. Yeah, I thought so.

You all whine about the amounts, well where is the counter offer? Or do you just whine when someone calls your bluff?
