Some surprisingly cogent positions (if a bit nebulous in a couple of cases on the distinction between enumerated rights and enumerated powers)

My fav:
"Well…..668 responses, and the “Best of Show” was: “We’re the ACLU….defenders of 9 out of 10 of the Bill of Rights”. That says it in a nutshell, you hypocrites."

That would be inconsistent with one of the rights that they still defend!
![]() Most of those posts are spot on. That sort of hipocracy is rediculous.

How very sad. I hope they find the backbone to recant. But I doubt it.

They should just rename it the ALWU instead (American Liberal Wacko Union) since the "CU" part (Civil Liberties) obviously means nothing to them.
Q: How does an ACLU lawyer count to 10? A: 1, 3, 4, 5 . . . LOL! Too true. For them to claim to be "civil liberties" and oppose the individual right of self-protection and gun ownership is absurd. Who funds these guys anyway?

It has never been about the 2nd ammendment to the ACLU. They don't believe in it no matter what the SCOTUS says. They just think that guns are horrible and people need to be "protected" from them.

I'll never send them another dime.
or a nickle or a penny or an old smelly shoe with dog poop on it! Not that I've EVER sent them anything. And while the dog poopy shoe has a certain appeal to me, it just isn't worth the postage...

If anyone has ever doubted that the ACLU has degenerated into a front organization for every far left wing, whacked out liberal cause in America, this should serve as a reality check. For the "true believers" of the far left, pro gun = conservative; a label they will do anything to avoid. Never mind that a distinct majority of those who would call themselves "liberal" are also pro gun. To the ACLU, and the rest of the true believers on the far left, these liberals are far too conservative.
The ACLU is just one of many far left organizations that would like to paint itself as more moderate than they really are. They must do so for the sake of keeping themselves alive; they rely upon a pretty broad liberal base for support and funding. They are able to maintain a broad base of support at least in part because they do not readily advertise their more radical policies. They count on the inattention of their supporters, who tend to not look all that closely. The "policy", as presented, is very much watered down to make it more palatable to a broader base of supporters. The ACLU has tipped their hand on this one. They have well and truly let the cat out of the bag. They have some serious questions to answer; questions they cannot answer truthfully and maintain the support they have enjoyed from more moderate liberals.

I went to the shooting range after work yesterday to celebrate the Hiller decision. I hope that alone makes an uptight NannyState sympathizing ACLU lawyer cringe.
Even better, I think I got a co-worker of mine into recreational shooting. He says he loved it and wants to go back now. ![]() Just doin' my part to piss off the control freaks.

Absolutely astonishing, indefensible position for the ACLU to take. I hope that this buries them, or at least causes a seismic shift in their leadership. Unbelievable.

Jeff, The only thing I can add to your post is that the ACLU has never been about American Civil Rights. If you read the history of the players this organization it is clearly a reminant of the Socialist Progresive Movements of the early 20th Century. Read up on Roger Nash Baldwin and your eyes will be opened. This guy was not just a leftist, but many consider him a Stalinist. So it is not so much that the ACLU has revealed itself but that it has become apparent to a new generation of Americans. Thanks, I liked your post.
