Ya, those noobs should come over here to OT to post several hundred pointless observations before they post a question on a tech forum.

(and there's one more post fo' me!!)

I think its a family thing. Like in most social structures from the stone age to modern society, man is a flock animal that feels more comfortable in a group of people he knows, rather than with strangers.

Those with a high post count, no matter the relevance of those posts, are persons that the rest feel comfortable with. They are, in a matter of speech, family.

With a good friend or family member you are automatically allowed a higher tolerance level.

There is no right or wrong in this, its just a case of human nature. However, IMO its really unnecessary and rude to bring up the post count as a reason, particularly in the tech forum. As you say, a guy with one post may be a far more experienced mechanic than one with ten thousand.

Terry - don't worry about post whores. Most of them got that many posts by arguing over whether there is a God or not and politics. Very sad. I had to sell my 911 years ago but still lurk here for those special PPOT moments.

You're all wrong!

Wayne has more posts then anybody
and he's written a book on Porsches
ergo, more posts = smarter poster

us high numbers posters deserve r.e.s.p.e.c.t... we earned it
i expect many congratulatory private messages when i cross over in the 5 digits sometime this year

I saw the same comment and thought it was rude and condescending too.
Maybe post count is related to penis size, ie small count = huge donger.

Anyway thats put my teeny weeny post count up one.

One prolific poster (since banned for the 2nd time) accumulated almost 7000 posts in less than one year's time if I recall correctly...at least 6,999 of them were bashing liberals (and he didn't even own a Porsche)

the only thing Tabs pushes down stairs, is the trolley full of foodplates he stole at the buffet, while running from the buffet security goons...

Is that any worse than the 'look what I own', 'look where I went', 'look how much money I have' poster? Who shall remain nameless.

Time and time again some noob shows up and starts blabbing on about something or other, often it is just gibberish. Odds are he is a troll or simply hasn't been around the board long enough to get a feel for it, what is cool and what is not, what is acceptable behavior etc.
because of that people are naturally wary of noobs and tend to judge them accordingly. I usually don't pay much attention to noobs at all.

Yes, that is profiling and I don't give a crap if it isn't PC. Profiling is another word for common sense to everyone except certain minorities and the ACLU.

Everyone knows the join date is much more important then the number of post. I think I'm on this board a lot and then I see someone that joined a couple of years ago and has 10,000 post.
