Don't get me wrong....I think Adam is phenomenal. Every week, my wife and just can't believe how great he is. He is hands-down the most talented AI performer I've ever seen. Unfortunately, it is a popularity contest and Danny just has something that helps him connect with the audience better which is why Adam was #4 last week....

Actually adam was not #4 last week, they played it out that way for ratings. He was actually #3 in the voting.

Danny, by the way, is being roundly hammered today by all, as everyone that's followed the show since the beginning is now saying his performance of Dream on last night is the single worst top 5+ performance in AI history.

It was, in a word, horrendous.

Note they never said the little guy had more votes when they said he was safe, just that he was safe. Lambert was the prohibitive front runner, and every bookie and "reporter" that follows the show had already crowned him champ.

Therefore there was huge shock value in producing the show as they did. It also served as a wake up call to Lamberts fans, so that a daughtry repeat did not occur.

It was highly unusual to use that format for top 5 at all, i dont recall them ever doing that before. It was all about the ratings.

No justice in the world that Gokey advanced, he flat out sucked.

Gokey should have gone home tonight, not Allison. Chris should go next. Top two should have been Adam and Allison. I like Allison better than Adam. His screaming is rediculous and its getting old.

Her mumbly enunciation was ridiculous and getting old. And now she's gone. ( I don't actually mean this, i liked her, but a hell of a lot of people have commented online that she sounds like she has marbles in hour mouth)

But before her time, cause Danny absolutely sucked.

The judges should have not only the save they used earlier, but an over-ride as well. Because he was that bad, he should have been taken out back, had duct tape put over his mouth, and been tossed in a dumpster.

Just terrible.

Well I have a new appreciation for robert plant. Adam sucked horribly as did the other two guys. But rock isn't what the other two do so you can't judge that.

There is a difference between acting and singing. Plant sings. Lambert acts (but does have an excellent and well-trained voice).

Pop stars need to be actors first. So from that perspective, Lambert is a great "idol." But he ain't a rock singer, I doubt he will break any ground (like Elvis did) or truly push the genre or spill his guts (like Plant or Mercury). He will be a good "star" though.

We'll find out in time, i'm betting on him reviving the entire dying genre that is rock.

Mercury is gone, Plant is long since washed up, Rose is a head case, Tyler is aged and inneffective....

I do agree there is an element of over the topedness, but you know, he is gay...and i like a good stage show anyway, like Axl Rose used to bring, so i have no complaints about that.

'whole lotta love' w/o the singing is actually a pretty dull tune. what makes it good is plants vocals. the soul he projects.

adam is really starting to show a total lack of range and punch. i dunno why it wasn't apparent before.

the young girl was pretty amazing though. sorry to see her go as she was just starting to enunciate which, to me, made her sound SOOOO much better. a lazy tongue almost never sounds good and she MIGHT have been figuring that out.

I like the music i like, it's highly subjective, and i respect other peoples opinions to differ on subjective subjects. (Not all are the same, i got banned here for 1 day once before for cutting up a car because i said it looked like a euro-sissy wagon or words to that effect, shrug).

Some people get over the top with mean-spiritedness or petty hating, but hey, there are a lot of asses in the world, i am not going to get all worked up over it, especially when it's not even directed at me in particular.

Lambert is gay, edgy, and very "showy", any one of the three would get him hated on by a lot of people. Combine all three, and it's no surprise that he gets criticized a lot. However, he also has a legion of fans, of which, i am one.

I think he's great- the best thing to happen to rock since Axl Rose burst onto the scene in about 87-88.

I'd have to agree with Beretta.....snipe has really kept it friendly. I do think that Adam is the freshest singer I've seen in a looooonnnnnggggg time. Win or lose, he'll have a really great career.

I'm no idol fan but my kids went to school with two Shuswap Idol winners and another Shuswap Idol went all the way to Canadian Idol Champ; Suzy Rahn. Her dads a retired realtor and I've seen her sing many times; kinda Avril style gal. I love watching the live performances.

I've been watching since season 3 (Bo Bice vs Kerry Underwood), and IMO that was by far the best top 3 performance show i can remember.

I thought the little guy was cooked until he busted out that Kanye West song, which was just awesome, Gokey was to me the best he's been in weeks(though i really still feel he's living on stolen time after he MURDERED dream on last week), and Lambert was, well-- Perfect.

Thought it was brilliant, as did all 4 judges. And even if you didn't like it, it was NOWHERE NEAR the abortion that was last weeks version of Gokey's Dream on. That one was perhaps among the 10 worst performances in AI history. And by far the worst ever in top 5 history. That was hideous. Truly hideous.

The one problem i had with "one", is that it's really hard to take a long epic song and cut it down to 1:30.

But anyway, it's subjective.

So though i thought he did both songs extremely well, for me the actual songs didn't much get it done for me.

BTW, just did a little expriment. I can get through easily to Gokey and Allen's numbers- but Lamberts lines are still hit or miss with a busy signal.

I was always a fan of Adam and I always thought that he has a great voice but week after week I am starting to tire of him. He will win this thing but I just don’t see buying his stuff. Could you imagine listening to 12-14 songs of his! OK so the guy can do some cover rock pretty well. Lets see what happens when it’s his own music. Man that guy can scream!

Funny. I think Adam really CAN sing, but he resorts to the alto screech way too much. He butchered "One". It was painful to listen to. He's got range, but he's in desperate need of some vocal discipline. It's nice to hit those high registers when the song requires it, but he sang most of the U2 song like his nuts were in a vise.

It must be different listening to him live because I can't understand how the judges thought Lambert's "One" was all that. To me, it was a zero.

A few of the bloggers have mentioned that Adam has the highest number of "anti-fans" so that may be a problem for him. We'll know tommorow.

Lambert is probably the most trained and disciplined professional voice AI has seen since Clay Aiken.

He also has the most amazing high register i've ever seen on that show (or at all since jeez, i dont know when- Tyler in his prime?), and i can see why he wants/likes to use it. It's got to be very hard to have that kind of high end power and not flaunt it. Not using it would be like having a 1000hp 911 turbo and puttering around at 40mph.

He is to me very much like Axl Rose, who was defined by his screeching high register, and who used and relied on it constantly. A lot of people didn't like Axl Rose's voice either (in fact some people hated his voice), but i loved it.

I thought One was magnificently sung(though im not a big fan of any U2 stuff), and Bono must be a fan because there's no way he'd have agreed to allow him to sing it if he didn't think Lambert was worthy. Remember, he gave his personal blessing to allow this. I'll look for his comments about it after the fact, i'm willing to be they'll be glowing.

Beretta Fan, it's bewildering to think anyone would honestly say "he can't sing"(esp. considering your earlier comments in this thread where you said he was great).

His low register is fantastic, he has tremendous vocal control and can bridge effortlessly and stay perfectly in pitch and on key- that's what all the articles i read say, and my layman's ears sure can't find any flaws.

The judges (all of them) rave about him every week for a reason. Cowell just said he's one of the most talented singers AI has ever had tonight, and that's really saying something. Nor do you ever see Cowell making personal pleas to a contestants fans to "not assume he's going to make it, so vote for him." If Cowell for one second thought he was overhyped or sucked, he would say so. The one performance he didn't like- ring of fire, Simon called "Utter rubbish."

Once Lamberts album is made and the singles are playing on the radio you won't have to listen to 10 straight songs of him "screaming."(though i gladly would)

It will be 1 song interspersed with 10 songs by very ordinary singers and when you hear that one Lambert track with his tremendous carnal screams the 'blow you out of your socks' effect will be maximized, and it will again become "special" instead of "tired."

He has also done performances where he has barely used the high register at all, like Mad world and Tracks of my tears too though.

The one that i find tiresome and i would call "Mr. Same sauce" is Danny Gokey. But it's all subjective.
