Kill Da Wabbit

So I found two rabbit nests in my yard while mowing the lawn. I'm sick of these little f***ers destroying my lawn and landscaping.

I'm thinking pellet gun.

Or air rifle.

Or CB short.

My wife wants to see what expensive, ineffective devices the hardware store has to "repel" the f***ers. I don't want to repel them. I want them dead. We have a severe overpopulation of them. I've seen as many as 13 of them in my back yard at the same time.

Thoughts?

They can be da*n destructive as you well know, and can be a challenge to get rid of. .177 pellet might work, maybe worth a try. A .22 short will work. Might want to start now. Live traps just create more work for you and opportunity for them. Poison in the burrow or nest as well but that creates other issues.

I let the neighborhood fox take care of the tree rats, rodents and rabbits, I take care of the woodpeckers and their drumming, and blackbirds that sheat all over everything in the spring. The little .177 takes care of them.

Yep. All of the yards in the neighborhood are fenced so they know to avoid the yards with dogs.

The people behind me only mow once every 2-3 weeks (and considering we've been getting 2-3 inches or rain a week lately, you can imagine how their yard looks).

Throw a couple of 20-pound bags of rabbit pellets into your neighbor's yard when they're not home. They'll never notice (seeing as they don't seem to give a damn about their yard anyway) and the rabbits will all move next door.

Two problems solved at once, and you don't have to fire a shot.

2-3 weeks with that rain? God, I'm mowing 2x/wk. w/o rain. jeez they have the best of both worlds. Eat, cover and rest all day, boink all night. Maybe you could borrow the neighbors dog for a day or two and have him "relocate" a few. Or the first option.

I've dug out the holes and filled them in. They were only 6 inches deep at most.

And I don't have a heart. Some of the wholes were active nests. Let's just say I've cut down on the next generation some.

One of those live catch traps that looks like a cage, and a hose hooked up to the exhaust pipe of your car to dispatch them.

You don't have a dog?

Good advice.

The moths are difficult to catch in the first place. Then you need a good magnifying glass, some tweezers, and a very steady hand.

Scares the crap out of rabbits - they think they'll be next.

Must have been a misprint. No way way would I or the neighbors harm a bird that causes so little property damage in the springtime.

Get a few cats. They LOVE rabbits.
