I honestly hope that you can find the right answer for you, cause in the long run that is the most important person you have to worry about.

be prepared for the odd looks and possible awkward questions. Some people have no tact, especially after some alcohol gets into them. Best of luck.

Ok...a party update. Picked her up about 300 pm to go to her gala. Warm up band was od, Elvis impersonator was a hoot spending most of his 1 1/2 hour act serenanding my wife. I took 100's of photos. My job besides photographer was cabana boy and DD. IOW make the evening all about her. Which I succeeded in doing.

Final act was band that played at our wedding and last song of the evening was the first song we danced to as man and wife: "Unchained Melody." We closed out the evening dancing to that in a tight embrce,

Wife had an absolute blast fueled by alternate chardonnay and Patron. Upwards of 150 people showed up. My bar tab was over $200 even with discount,,,Patron at $9/shot should give you an idea.

All wa sbliss until we got home...then wife decided she wants something to eat....so off to Awful House we go at 2 s.m. Somewhere between ordering and food wife turns angry drunk. Blasts me because I think she's clueless and she knows what I'm up to, I am the clueless one at thisp point. Let it slide as whiskey talk and get her home. At homw ahe breaks down and fesses up to depression and hormones. WE make amends for the evening, I put her to bed. She wants me to just hold her.

I had coffee this morning on m y back deck for the irst time in 6 weeks. I mowed the fron tyard and headed to my office before she awoke.

We're going out to dinner tonite.

Hmmmm.

Tell us a bit more about her drinking, in general, not just that night.

I had an ex thast told me a very wise words. Words spoken by a drunk girl are the truest words you will ever hear.

m21sniper 08-17-2009 02:42 PM

I've had 3 different girlfriends since the time this thread was started. I haven't spent $200 on all 3 of them combined.

I think i'm getting the better deal.

This is nothing. Go back and read the thread on Nostatic's very short ownership of a blue '87 Carrera from around 2001.

My comment was really more just a social commentary, or yet another shot accross the bow of marriage if you will.

I feel really bad for you dueller. If i lived anywhere near you i would make it my personal mission to take you out and get you some fresh new poontang.

Snipe, from where I stand, right now you way seems to be the best way. Now having said that, It is obvious that you have never felt the absolute joy, contentment, warm, loving feeling between 2 people who are so consumed by each other that the rest of the entire world simply ceases to exist. To wake in the morning, and feel like the luckiest man ever, because she took you as her husband, where there is no way to get close enough that skin gets in the way. After 25 years I still remember how that felt, and although it has long gone (on both sides) it is something that can never be replaced or duplicated.

Hats off Dueller, I had the opportunity to save a couple of relationships and failed to put out the effort. You can not be faulted for trying.

It's been 22 years so far this time, not much I'd want to change. There is such a thing as a happily married couple.

They may not let me in heaven, but upon my arrival i am fairly confident that Hell shall rise in it's entirety to applaud me. ;)

Now if you gentlemen will excuse me, i have a date with a woman 1/2 my age tonight.

Hey, man. Hats off! You gotta do what you gotta do to feel superior. :D

Dueller 08-18-2009 07:55 AM

Went out to dinner last night, then dessert at home. In bed by 10 pm. Another morning of coffee on my back deck, then off to work. It is apparent wife is struggling with hgormonal changes, empty nest. She thanked me for being there. Now I'm gonna lay low for the next few days.

We're leaving (together) for a beach vacation this comming Sunday for a week.

Laneco 08-18-2009 08:20 AM

Ditch the cell phones, unplug the hard line in the hotel room... Respond to fire alarms and nothing else.

Have a wonderful vacation Dueller. You deserve it.

No problem, i have a hard enough time with one girl that age. My days of doing 2 or 3 at a time are over. ;)

(LOL, sorry, i couldn't help myself. We now return you to your regularly scheduled saga of love and loss)

berettafan 08-18-2009 11:44 AM

dueller just remember that in a vacation/party atmosphere everything is better. it's when you come back home to reality that a relationship shows its true colors.

m21sniper 08-18-2009 12:14 PM

One thing that is abundantly clear from the last page of posts- Dueller is NOT the problem.
He is the victim.

Wouldn't go thaT FAR, snipe. I certainly am part of what caused our relationship to get all cattywhumpus...but not the sole reason. I accept my mistakes and am correcting them. It is comforting to finally have her realize I am not the sole or even main cause.

As to your hijack....the last women I dated in the two years before my wife and I began dating were 22, 28, 29, 33 and 39. I was 47-49. So I know the fun that I can have...even without your help.;) FWIW mywife at 4 1/2 years my junior is the oldest and closest woman to my age I have been involved with in at least 30 years.

But eventually you have to talk to them. FWIW I'd put my wife up against 99% of women who are 35-40 on any level..

m21sniper 08-18-2009 01:39 PM

Understood. If you change your mind about some young female tail chasing with your buddy snipe, just let me know. :)

But i do think youre being way too hard on yourself, and i think youre being taken advantage of, and being made to suffer for her problems and insecurities and chemical imbalances.

Dueller 08-28-2009 09:23 AM

Just got back from our mini-vacation. Everything went stellar. The cocktails and dancing to Al Greene naked on the first night away set the mood for the rest of the trip.;)

We've decided to sell the big house, buy a small beach house in the florida panhandle (Perdidio Key a/k/a the redneck riviera) and drop out. May not even tell the kids we've moved.:D

Seahawk 08-28-2009 09:37 AM

I've danced to Al in Perdido Key...slow, then slower.

Jim, I sincerely hope you can carry that over into daily life. Are you back together at home again?

Rikao4 08-28-2009 09:44 AM

great news...
alas..should we all ever met..
someone will play Mr Al Greene..
we will all stare at her..
D will turn red..mumble ..it's a long story..
and ask his lady for a dance..
Snipe will ask the waitress..' you got any tat's or piercing's '
get slapped..and then leave with someone's younger sister..

happy you had a good time..
you and her...
all other's should make an appointment..
