When I met Beth her idea of roughing it was a hotel with no room service. I would go camping and leave her at home until that one day she said she was going. I broke her in the hard way, a little Coleman sundowner tent (pup tent) we ate MRE's and the coffee was instant. She loved it and went out that monday and bought a big tent and the rest was history.

My brother got the camping gene in our family. He is a major bow & arrow deer hunter and camper. His first date ever with his now wife was an epic camping adventure with a canoe trip gone bad funny story. Way to involved to type it out but the bottom line is they were supposed to go on just a day trip but they were stuck overnight and 24 hours overdue when they got back.

It is pretty funny hearing them both tell the story now almost 37 years later.

We've always been campers (although I am just as comfy in a Hotel somewhere but that has grown on me over the years of corporate travel)

We drove for four hours to get to this place and just after we got ourselves set up a mate flew in in his Bell 47 for the night. He won the pi55ing comp when it came to who had the best off road vehicle

Hahaha! That reminds me, Lu and I make a pretty good comedy (of errors) team when we go canoeing. She almost never paddles on the side I want her to. We've gone through rapids sideways (and got nice and wet) because of this. We must look absolutely clueless to onlookers.

Fishing without catching anything is called either boating or camping depending on which you attempted to fish from.

In college camping meant beer party in the woods. Only rules were to get tents up and fire pit built before the beer cooler was opened. Otherwise we were just a bunch of drunks wondering around looking for our cars.

And we always had to make sure we had jumper cables, there was always that one guy that would roll his windows down and play the stereo until the battery was dead. That was typically the same guy that woke up in his car whether he set up his tent or not.

Cheers Jim.

The camping talk got me lost looking over old photos for a while. The first photo is a spot only a little over an hour to the west. I haven't been out that way for about 5 years. Must go for a camp or at least a picnic out there when it all cools off a bit.

We like to camp, fish, hunt but when we camp we have to be at a campgrounds with a bathroom somewhere because: wife.

I don't remember the last time we fished and something wasn't biting, even with a 4 year old chattering away. Sometimes it is a lot of catch and release.

So, now that our 5 year old is using our shower more should I hide the magazines (no, I don't have "those" magazines)? He goes through the American Rifleman and picks out what he wants and he has expensive taste. The last one was an AR from Daniel Defense. I mentioned a couple others earlier, but this is turning into quite a wish list. Of the 4 rifles so far he is at about $15k sans optics. He has an affinity for the AR platform in .308 for some reason. Joe, Rick, be ready for some phone calls in a few years as I don't have any experience with that platform.

Joe, are you ever not in trouble? Wait, is she red headed and religious with a criminal proceeding on the schedule?

Yeah, but he can still spell ACOG and no I will not be telling him (yet) that he can build his own custom AR.

For Christmas he bought dad a play MP5 so they could play GI Joe together. He loves the old GI Joe cartoons.

Fortunately he likes to play ball and watch stuff like Wild Kratts and loves babies as well or I would be worried.

A friend once lost his RC monster truck in the middle of a pond. He thought he could float across but the battery went dead and it started sinking faster than the time it would take to blow to shore. He ended up stripping to his underwear and walking out int he 45* water to retrieve it. I would take that over the poison ivy.

Southerner. Oh boy. That or a proper English accent. Is she like Elle May southern or plantation southern?

I guarantee it would be a better show than 99% of the shows on TV now.

Just don't forget Stijn's advice.
