While looking for various parts for the Turbo noticed can get a used 2005 Cayenne Turbo motor complete from salvage for $2500.
When I had he new (under warrantee) Boxster S, they didn't try to fix the motor when it stopped. They didn't even let the mech open it. All they did was read the black box info, said it wasn't my fault and replaced it. There was metal in the oil though. Didn't get to see how much it was. Know it took them over a month and I had to drive an Infinity Q35. The Q35 was not worth the Boxster S lease payment!

We test drove a new Cayenne Turbo just as a comparison. It was of course crazy fast and it was very obvious it was a heavier vehicle. It had a much more massive feel to it. Of course it was a LOT more expensive. It was just to get a comparison. The Cayenne has a 8 speed torque converter transmission with a large towing capacity. That is of zero interest to us.

LOL when the Cayenne first came out and I test drove it I thought it felt a lot like my 928 GT only you sit higher off the ground. People think the 928 feels heavy too.
The 340 hp was more than enough in the 2004 Cayenne S. The extra 110 hp in the 2005 Turbo is just nuts and the 2006 Turbo S has 50 more than that! I rarely if ever get past 1/4 throttle. Interesting that the towing capacity for my S and Turbo are the same. The Turbo I got doesn't have a hitch so it is a non-issue for me too. Haven't towed a trailer since I hauled my brothers old Ford tractor out to his farm when I was 28 yo with my Jeep Cherokee. He broke the rear bumper off his pickup because he put too much tongue weight on it by pulling the tractor all the way to the front of the trailer. Glad my Jeep Cherokee had a class 3 hitch welded to the frame. He did the same thing with the Jeep even after breaking the bumper off the pickup and was expecting me to drive off with the front wheels 3 foot off the ground! Tried to tell him that there is a reason there were double axels on the trailer, and he is supposed to be an engineer!

Howdy all.
Our Thanksgiving was alright. The gathering gets smaller every year. I don't know that we will go next year. It is nice that we get to use my cousin's restaurant though to seat everyone. My nephew has a lot to learn about when deer move.

The Cayenne turbo is officially home, programmed it's homelink to work my garage door yesterday.
Tried to have Bob help. You push the homelink button once, push it again and hold it. Then while holding it you press the learn button and release it on my opener. Then release the button on the homelink. First I had Bob try to press and release the opener button while I was pressing the homelink button...nothing. In fact he was pressing an holding the opener button and cleared all the remotes off it. Then I tried having him press and release the homelink button, then press and hold it and tell me so I could press the opener button. After 4 attempts I gave that up. Ended up having to pull the S out of the garage and pull the Turbo in so I could stand up thru the sunroof and reach both buttons. Had to do the same to the S, and reprogram the extra remote I have, AND reprogram my outside keypad. Arrrrgh. Mom was always able to help me before by just pushing the learn button on the opener once when I asked her. Why can't a person just push and release a button when you ask them to? To make it even worse, I had to put the key in and turn on the car before I could program the homelink and he would just keep asking over and over, do I push it yet? Then he can't freaking push it? I should have known better to ask for him to push a button for me when I had set up a guest wifi for him that is called "Richard's Guest Wifi", with no password and it took him over an hour to get his laptop on the network! At least after resetting all the remotes it will help me remember to clear the homelink on the S when I sell it.

Mine is super easy to setup. You just press the remote and hold it, then press the button on the opener. Then you can release the remote. With the Homelink for some reason you have to press the homelink button once, then again and hold it. Something about rolling codes. The only gotcha is you have to press the learn button on the opener while holding the remote button. A bit difficult for one person when the remote is the Homelink in the car. UNLESS you are standing in the car, poking up thru the sunroof so you can press and hold the button on the Homelink, then press the button on the opener.

G'day all.
For the last couple of days we've been in Napier. The city was rebuilt in the early 1930s after it was destroyed by a mag 7.8 quake. Lots of art deco styles as a result. New buildings being built in the same style to keep a theme going. Actually very cool. Great wine industry here knows as the Hawks Bay wine region so had to have a wine tour this arvo. Making our way back to Auckland over the next couple of days.

I remember running the amortization table using my Commodore Vic 16. At 12.5% that first payment was something like 5 bucks of principal and the rest was interest. I sure wish I could find a 12.5% CD or investment now. Good no longer Monday day!

....and were back to Spring again here.
High of 60 and sunny today. Apparently, colder weather is coming but I'll take the nice stuff for as long as we can. Waiting for my neighbor to weld up the trampoline frame.

It is a sunny day and supposed to be near 60 for the high. Maybe some rain for the weekend. And snow in the panhandle area over the weekend. We have yet to have a hard freeze here. We still have elephant ears growing.
