Andy- the tie rod upgrade is worth it and easy to do yourself.

The widow behind is moving and asked me to clean and caulk all of her windows in preparation for selling the house. She and her hubby smoked so there is that gross nicotine film on everything.

She made up a solution of H20, ammonia, and rubbing alcohol that literally dissolves the film. Pretty darn amazing!

She is also going to pay me to keep her yard maintained until the house sells.

Cash is always a nice addition to the family budget.

I did my car when I refurbished the rubber bushings. I replaced all the rubber bushings, did the turbo tie rods and new ball joints and shocks. It is hard to quantify how much just the turbo tie rods helped but my steering is like a laser beam still. If I move the steering wheel a tiny amount the car changes directions.

If you look at the design of the two different systems you can see the turbo tie rods are clearly better. If you are replacing the tie rods anyway, spend the extra money for the turbo tie rods.

It will require an new alignment so it is not something to do on a whim. If your tir rods are worn and have slop, you likely need ball joints as well.

Wayne, at my old bachelor pad house the couple that lived behind me were old school. She was never more than a housewife. He took care of everything else. He dropped dead from a heart attack and she was clueless. She did not know how to drive or write a check. She did not even know how to pay bills. She was helpless. The good news is her younger sister moved in for a while to teach her how to operate the modern world of the 1980s.

I had to mow her yard several times just to keep the weeds short. I did not want them infesting my back yard. She was amazing, in six months she had her driver's license and learned how to function on her own.

My neighbor is very intelligent and has traveled the world. She just turned 70 and lives off of their investments. Hubby was in the Marines and then retired from Buick. She was a commercial photographer and worked in Psychology.

She bought a beautiful house in a town to the north on a golf course. It's over 3000 sq. ft. I asked why she bought it and she told me "because I like it". Alrighty then! She doesn't even golf.

Maybe she likes to hear men cursing?

My maternal Granddad passed when I was 5, in 1965. Grandma didn't have a job or know how to drive. She bought a new car to learn to drive in. A 1965 turquoise/black Ford Galaxy 500, 352 with 4bbl and dual exhaust hot rod. She put a green stuffed dragon on the rear window deck that's eyes lit red with the brake lights, a compass on the dash, and a bobble head bulldog. They didn't even have a dog, let alone a bulldog, she had two cats? Granddad left her with enough that besides the new car she built a new house and lived comfortably for 12 years until she passed. She made the best chicken noodles.

maybe.

She is taking the already beautiful kitchen in the new house out and giving us all of the oak cabinets.

I have no idea what we are going to do with them but will gladly take them. The kitchen area is twice as big as ours. They are too nice for the garage.

One of my friends worked at a long term storage facility in Kansas. It is built inside of an old salt mine. Every day when he went to work he always told his wife he was off to the salt mine. She just rolled her eyes. She said the entire operation looked like a shopping mall and he wore a suit and tie. I agreed with him, we was in fact in a salt mine so the phrase was technically accurate although misleading.

Nephew worked for a company here in town that rebuilt automobile engines. His job was grinding the studs off the piston rods. So he put his nose to the grind stone.

Had to run some errands yesterday afternoon. So very glad I don't have to drive back and forth to work every day. Traffic has gotten much heavier in the 5 years I've been working from home. Also try to make all my shopping runs after 8pm to reduce my exposure to traffic even though most of my shopping. gas, groceries, and drugs is within 2.5 miles of my driveway.

Meeting Glen for BBQ lunch today. It's 7 miles away thru lots of traffic with lights almost every half mile.

Richard, that is why I go down Memorial to Santa Fe. North to 2nd. It avoids so much of the traffic.

GLen, those movies were all a bit over the top. Need to go faster, hit the NAAAWWWSS and your head gets thrown back and you are accelerating about the same as a 1972 Buick. 100, pause, 110, pause. Shift into fourth for the eighth time. They are entertaining enough.

I think I found a new sport in China. End loader wrestling!
