Just a trace of rain is all we received.

Sitting on the patio listening to the pool filter do it's thing.
It's uncovered and I put the chemicals in so it may swimmable tomorrow. The lady that helps with popcorn asked me about her pool filter today. Apparently, she ran over the plug in with the mower. I had an old filter with the same plug and swapped it for her. She asked my opinion on getting her broken suspension on her car repaired. I looked at it and the rear stabilizer bar end link was broken off. We ordered a new one and I'm installing it tomorrow. Her husband drives heavy equipment cleaning up hazardous materials for railroads and is out of town for days at a time so she has to maintain the house, cars, etc. It feels good to help somebody out that needs it. When I told my wife that "Stephanie" is coming over Saturday she responded with "who is Stephanie?!" I forgot to mention that I was helping with her car. Ya gotta mess with 'em sometimes to see if they are paying attention. ![]()

Do you have a Bee Lady. The guy that worked for me with the twin nudie bar bouncer spent a lot of time at the lake and the strippers often joined them. Came back from a Memorial Day weekend telling us about the strippers doing the nude sun bathing thing. One of them got stung on the boobie. He said it looked like a 3rd nipple so they started calling her the Bee Lady.

Interesting F1 qualifying. Great result for a non Mercedes driver. That will be an interesting race tomorrow especially if it rains.

Stijn!!
Wheeeee. Fun in the back yard Koi pond today.
![]() The water started getting murky. We have a UV light that is in a inline part of the water circulation. It is like any bulb and burns out every year or so. So my wife "let" me take the bulb holder apart to replace the bulb. The picture above is what I found. One of the connectors was burned off of the bulb and the connector was toasted. Of course all the stores with parts close at noon. We made a run to the local Koi pond place and get a replacement connector and a new bulb. That is done and fixed. Then I took the 911 for a last shakedown run before the mega trip. It is a 31 year old car with 160,200 miles on it. What other 31 year old car on the planet would you want to take on a 5,000 mile or more trip? Nothing else comes to mind for me. One thing I was interested in really checking was the AC. It is only 86 degrees with 79% humidity out there but that was all I had to test in. ![]() If you look at the top of the return to the compressor line it has a coating of clear ice on it. You can see the layer of ice is broken where I rubbed it with my finger. It was blowing 40 degree air at the vents inside. The dashboard was so hot I could not hold my hands on the dash for more than a couple of seconds. It was full sun blue skies heat. Everything seems to be ready so all I have left is packing the car and getting Mrs Carrera to roll north into the land of Yankees.

Well, hope I don't end up in jail. Going on some errands. It's 83°F with a 5mph breeze and I'm taking Pepper.

The things "they" come up with:
I had to buy a new pool vacuum head so we ran up to KMart. The youngster behind the counter swipes the piece and asks for my birthdate. She, of course, had no clue why she needed the date but says "it" is asking for one. I gave her the date and commented about how I didn't realize meth makers were using pool vacuums to make it nowdays. ![]()

Odd.
I finally got the grids in or DE filter replaced and charged with new medium. Pool is cleaner and sparklier than its been in quite a while! Need to do that more often! |

We are thinking about going to a sand filter setup. Supposedly, it will save money in the long run as you will use less chemicals to keep the pool clean.
Ours is just an above ground one that you can buy at most stores. Ideally, an inground would be the ticket but big $$$. We only get hot days for 3 months so the investment is hard to justify. Yeah, it would raise the property value but still....

Welp, no incidents involving the authorities.
The only bagger person they kept when changing from Homeland to Cash Savers is a mentally challenged girl. When she saw me come in she immediately went out to "bring in the shopping carts." She stayed out there petting Pepper until I came out and drove off.

In AZ it is almost mandatory. When you buy a house they don't add but maybe 10-12k for a pool, in fact on our street of 6 houses, only one doesn't have a pool! Once the kids are gone we will move to a place without a pool. It's s pretty big monthly expense to keep it up, even in winter. We have gotten to any water rationing yet, but that will make things interesting. Is you filter now a cartridge type? Sand is probably the cheapest filter type to run, but most say the water doesn't get that same sparkle it does with DE. I'm not sure I can tell, but I'm not about to drop $500 to swap out filter types since ours is working fine! |

Yeah, we have the cartridge filters. I have 4 in rotation. Opening the pool is time consuming as the filters get dirty fast. Now that the water is clean they can go a few days between changes.
The pool maintenance just becomes part of my daily routine like cooking, cleaning, etc.

Those sorry network programmers. They played the F1 Extra BEFORE the freaking race telling whom the winners were. What did they play instead of the race, freaking paid programming and fishing!? The Bustards. For a supposed sports network they are clueless! Gonna have to start to try getting the race via live stream instead of the network. F1 web site is even screwed up, they don't even post the times of the practice, qualifying, and races are any more. They used to have a countdown to the next race. Lazy Programmers! Whomever is in charge of that stuff is getting paid way too much, if anything at all.

BTW Rick, I'll be back up your way for a day in either June or July and then again for about a week in, hopefully, September.
