That's what happened with my cadillac surgery. Out patient hospital gave me a refund, one of the doctors charged me that amount.
Had a local guy call me about the Cayenne today. He really wanted it but was afraid he couldn't get financing. Wanted to know if I was a dealer.

Holy friggin crap. Finally got the Mercedes sorted. Entirely new clutch hydraulics, all new cooling and a bunch of fiddling and a new ground on the instrument cluster, but this thing purrs.
Gonna wire up a USB charger direct to the battery with an ON/OFF switch and have some minor things to fix at my leisure, but it's running nicely. |

Stijn!!
Golly I had fun in the garage. Pulling the speedo is not horrible. Swapping the speedometer cable is an ordeal. The good news is they only charged me 21 bucks for the new cable. I had to pull the entire instrument panel to get the cable back into place. I went out shortly after 9:00 and came in to take a shower at 3:45. To hook up the transmission connection I had to sit under the middle of the car. With a scissor lift it is a bit of a effort to get there but it sure beat jacks stands and doing it on my back.
It looks like to speedo itself is some of the problem. I will take it to a local shop for a check out and repair. For now I have the speedo that came in the car back in. It pegs out at 85 and has a big 55 highlighted. I hate it but it will be back in storage soon. Swapping back should not be too bad.

We had the Porsche club Christmas party last night. It was raining and wet so I really did not wanna drive the clean 911. It was getting to be a race to get the Elky back together in time to get cleaned up and to the party that started at 5:00.
My regular doctor GP sat at the table with us. I got to meet his wife and learn more about him. I decided not to eat all of my desert with him watching ![]()

Easy peasy. I left NZ at 7am on Dec 2 and arrived at LAX at 7am on Dec 2. That's amazing!

Ha ha ha, somebody offered me 500 and 13,700 worth of land, 10 acres in MN for the Cayenne. Says can use for RV or hunting. That's one I haven't heard yet.

Good Monday morning all.
Man my Elky must be really fast with that old original speedometer back in place. Fro 0-40 is like before but I can get up to 55 in just a heartbeat longer. The needle just flies around the dial. I guess it really like the old highlighted 55 since it is a huge number compared to the other numbers. The sad news is I can't go faster than 85 now. No wonder I hated that POS speedo. I will take my other speedometer to a local guy to have him check it out. I had my current unit built from a junk yard speedo. It has a trip odometer and it goes to 115 and zero emphasis for the magic 55. One reason I hate that speedo is it reminds me constantly of the dark ages bad old days of 55 MPH nation wide.

I have fond memories of the olden days when the speed limit was 55mph. Had a full size GMC Jimmy with a 250cuin inline 6 and was geared for it. It had gobs of torque and accelerated surprisingly quick up to 80mph. The gotcha was the top speed was 80mph floored at redline. It was a 1978 so it didn't have the giant 55 on the speedo.
Went from the Jimmy to my first Porsche while the limits were still 55mph. A 1976 914 2.0. It's speedo read much higher than 85 and also did not have the giant 55 itis. I traded in the Jimmy and remember them giving me $5500 for the Jimmy and the 914 was only $3000 so ended up getting the 914 and a check. That was also when I started driving on the highway with a radar detector. Went from the 914 back to another GMC Jimmy, an 81, it didn't have the giant 55 either. It did only have a 305 V8 and couldn't go over 60mph due to lack of power. Going up hill with a head wind it did good to hold 50mph. It was probably the huge tires that were on it. Instead of going to smaller tires swapped out the anemic 305 for a hot rodded up 400 small block and that did the trick. Traded that Jimmy in on a new 87 Jeep Cherokee, then a few months later a new 88 Jeep Cherokee Limited to get cruise control and a rear window defroster. Their speedos only went to 85. However, on a couple of occasions with the speedo pegged at 85 the distance traveled and the time it took calculated out to a bit over 140 mph. It felt really good to drop a couple of friends off at the airport in OKC, then pick them up as they walked out of the terminal expecting to hail a cab at DFW.

Since I was just a little bit younger in the bad old days of 55 I did tend to exceed that 55 quite often in my 914. To this day I still get a twinge to hit the brakes as I pass a cop on the side of the highway running at the legal limit of 75 down the turnpike. 75MPH was an expensive ticket in the bad old days.
I have always said that anyone that thinks 55 is a good limit should be put in an car in Denver, CO and forced to drive I-70 to Kansas City. The car will be rigged to give a mild shock at 56MPH and a strong shock at 60 MPH. At 65 the shock with be extreme and cause the car to stop and the the driver is unconscious. No one would make it past Hays, KS.
