Guy at work and his wife had 4 kids. They are from Kentucky. A couple of times a year they would load up in a Van and drivet to Kentucky and back. Said the drive took 2 days so they had the travel expense of the van and motel for 6. Plue the on-the-road food etc for traveling with 4 kids.

He got his pilot's license and rents a Cherokee 6 place plane at that same airport and they fly to Kentucky and back. He even got his instrument rating and keeps it up so he can fly any time. He joined a club at that airport and with the vacations and flying to keep his instrument ratings being in the club saves even more.

Siad it takes less time in a day than they spent driving for just one of the two days. And all total including keeping his rating up is the same money as driving. Bonus they get to spend more time with their family and less headaches driving with all the kids. Said kids sleep on the plane where they just made racket in the van.

If they can rent an airplane and fly to Kentucky cheaper than driving they had to be staying at some 5 star hotels and eating a lot of lobster and prime rib.

The day rate for most aircraft gets expensive fast. Refueling is usually 300 to 500 bucks. When we owned the 206 which was a 6 passenger aircraft if was 700 bucks in fuel alone to get to Baron Rouge and back and that was not counting maintenance and hangar and all the other expenses. We calculated it was about a dollar per statute mile to operate and make a profit so that is what we charged a client for our travel time.

Zero doubt, it is a ton faster flying but it is not cheap.

A Cherokee 6 is around $135 per hour if you own it. Probably less if it is a club plane, but then you pay your club fees as well.

Was just what he said. This was also in the mid to late 80's. He has since passed away. Had some sort of a heart condition they said would go on him at any time. He was helping a fellow worker re-pour his driveway on one of the hottest days of the year when it happened.

Dang, filling out the forms to be a vendor is a PAIN.

The job coming up for an organization that has their own way of doing things like all of them. It is a two page form I had to fill out and send back to the department of the organization that wants the photography. Of course several different departments want a print. That is the good or GREAT news. The bad news is each department has their own different system. Argh.

At least we will be set up for the bean counters in AR and just get the departments to do their part.

Like one company that set us up for their "fast pay" system which only takes 25 days and not 60 days.

The bigger the company the slower they pay.

Golly, I love Windows 10!

WTF, I had my sharing all worked out, my computers were happy to play and work together. Then the new update comes out. Try to look at a folder from one computer to the other, nope. Not gonna do it, you have to enter the network credentials, which conveniently enough don't exist!

Insert long string of profanities here. No, keep inserting the profanities for a few more minutes.

Hmmm, the update renamed my workgroup to Workgroup. Change that back and I get sharing from computer one to two, but NOT two to one.

All I can figure is Microsoft wants me to play more games and forget about being productive on my own computers.

MicroSloth is sure keeping me busy.

First they changed the basic Office365/Email license. Have had to figure out what they changed, and write scripts to go turn OFF the crap they added that only wastes users time. And emails to our users of what they can now no longer do.

Second they somehow undeleted and reinstated the 25 users that have left the company in the last two months. Just what we need, employees that have left the company getting their logins and credentials to access things back. Not just crap, but holy crap.

Oh, and went in to "The Office" for an employee meeting. It was cancelled as I was parking. Our AS400 locked up! They kinda thought getting it back up was a bit more important that the department meeting.

We can't. Several of the mapping software packages are Windows only. They require hardware dongles or registered to a CPU.
