My place is worse.

It's splatter textured! Even the dang garage. With my particular skill set fixen holes, etc. is not in the realm of possible DIY solutions. Really don't want to do what my SIL did. Before they moved into their house, she sanded all the texture smooth. Took her a couple a weeks of a plaster dust mess.

And all my ceilings have that blow on texture stuff on em too. I kinda like it despite them saying it ain't popular not more. Notice on those DIY shows when they de-texture a ceiling the room echos much louder.

My garage originally had a popcorn ceiling with asbestos as one of the ingredients. I had it removed when I had the house's popcorn ceilings scraped clean. Today, I was working on fixing the scrapes and gouges that we're left by the guys that previously removed the popcorn crap. It took quite a while to do this. Tomorrow, I'll sand the ceiling and walls. No, on second thought, I think I'll go sailing tomorrow.

We had wallpaper on almost all the walls. Mrs Carrera decided it had to go. So off came the wallpaper and we hired one of the guys I used to work with to put a hand applied texture on the walls. Then paint. Lotsa work. Done now.

Had a guy offer to redo the inside of my garage, including scraping the ceilings, de-texturing the walls, retexturing the ceiling and painting, including materials for $300. Shoulda taken him up on it.

Morning all. We actually had some rain yesterday and right now it is cloudy, overcast the temp is 77 but the heat index is 82. 96% humidity will do that. I turned on the garage AC to do the door handle replacement. I will have to remove the door card and to get to the handle. I hope I have one. I think I bought a spare the last time it broke. It would be nice to find a forged steel one but they would cost a lot. The cheap cast metal ones last about 100,000 miles. I have replace it at least twice before.

Maybe I can get a friend with a 3D printer to make me one!

One of my friends works at a place that has a 3/4 million dollar 3D printer. Maybe they will let me borrow it.

Haven't checked out the Maker's Space here in OKC, but know the one in Austin has 2 3D printers. They also have large format printers, laser cutters (big and small), NC lathes, welders, all kinds of stuff for woodworking and metalworking. The equipment is donated and the members share the bills and space rental. So for $50 a month membership and your materials you get to use all that stuff. If you don't know how, someone will even provide training.

Oh goodness. The company has hired people into the IT department that have no idea what they are doing. On our AS400 the guy that was the VP of communications that has been there as long as I have and was our AS400 guru. He retired last month. We have already had the AS400 lock up twice this month. That never happened before.

Also they hired a server manager. He went thru this week and moved a bunch of utility accounts around in Active Directory. Most of the utility accounts are for apps on servers to be able to authenticate users. Whomever setup those apps for lookup used the conanical name for the utility account sign in. The conanical name includes the Active Directory path as part of the name. That means moving them around broke the authentication process! Nobody could login to do anything.

Glen, just go old school and lighten the car with a wire pull. Or, have SLO Dave make an awesome looking one out of wood!

Richard, why is it people that are just starting have to rearrange everything with no forethought as to what the repercussions would be?

Jim.

David, absolutely TGIF. Hell week is just about over. I can smile and be nice and act like I am enjoying the work socialization all the while looking for an ice pick to put through my temple.

Did I mention I hate social stuff? It wouldn't be so bad if other people didn't attend. I think 8-10 is about my limit.

Well, I would say...People just don't think.

But, remember...I've been told, "It's not what you say, or how you say it, but you make people feel stupid."

Asked the psychiatrist if he could help me with that. He just kept rewording "what I say", or "how I say it" differently. I just asked, isn't that just another way of saying what I say, or how I say it? Made him feel stupid as well. Finally told me if I figure it out let him know.

As far as I could tell the whole Sensitivity Training thing was just a way they could sponsor some dude that went to the right church and go thru the motions of looking like I was being punished to discourage the hypersensitive judgmental bible thumping $#&&! from suing.

So, If I've got blown in insulation in my attic and it is super humid outside does the humidity affect it's effectiveness?

I took the day off without pay. Not sure how that is different than working for no pay except now I am out in the garage fixing my car instead of surfing Pelican while in my office. It will not affect the pay period at all.

I have the the door card off and the insulation. Got the old handle off and lubed up all the moving parts inside the door. I saw my handwriting on the old handle. It was replaced by me just 7 years ago. This one did not last as long. I will have to look up the mileage for back then and see how many miles it was. The old part was of course Made in China. It was just like the OEM GM part and bolted right up. The new handle that I did indeed have hanging on the wall ready for today is made in Taiwan so still China. It is a Doorman part and it is pretty poor quality control. The holes for the bolts were too small for the factory bolts. I had to fire up the drill press and drill the holes out some. Then the metal holder that bolts to the door was too wide for the position it was supposed to be in. I had to go to the vice and persuade it with some careful bending. Fortunately that part is stamped steel. Just the part one pulls on is pot metal, and chrome coated.

Of course over half of the little snaps that hold the door card in place broke. I had to dig into my ready stock of parts. Those clips always break some of them. The one big advantage of owning a car for 26 years, you know what parts to keep in stock. The disadvantage is you can't blame the previous owner for much anymore.

Back to work on the car, lunch break is over.

His employer probably paid it as well!

Richard, maybe the humidity kills the insulation's evaporative cooling capacity!
