Let’s hope so. It sucks to have surgery at any age but it sucks more at his age.
Good luck to him and you. |
thanks. I think I'll be taking Wednesday off and sitting in the hospt with my sister. My brother is headed to Canada with his wife.
|
Best of luck with the docs and taking care of whatever needs taken care of to improve both quantity and quality.

The USB port was too slow? Was that the connection to the camera or the computer itself saving the files to it's internal hard drive? Is your capture computer just suddenly not up to snuff?
Just curious, seems like you guys would have capture down cold. Oh, I know, the laptop put itself in low power mode because it wasn't plugged into power and slowed down? Hope the weather holds out! |
It is good to have someone to pass the time at the hospital. Well, someone you get along with. My sister and I get along very well (because she is a saint, not because of me) and it really helped pass the time with our parent's surgeries.

We have done every performance test we can come up with for the laptop. It passes. To just get to a point we know will work it is easier to get a new laptop. We needed a backup anyway. The laptop is 18 months old, and has a SSD drive. I can't imagine it is getting slow. It worked fine just last week.
One thing the camera manufacturer has seen is sometimes a USB port itself gets worn, or has a bad connection internally. It will work 90% of the time. We have to have 100%. We needed a basic travel laptop for use when on the road. It will work for for that. We have an external battery pack that provides 12 volts. The charger is plugged into that, and the laptop can run for 24 hours straight on that. Every setting is set to run full speed, no power saving. On a 4 or 5 hour flight it shows fully charged on the internal battery with the external battery hooked in. |
You guys are just too close to the technological edge!
|
Gotta be to stay in business.
It is funny, some of the biggest jobs we have are for UAV or drone companies. They can do the little projects but a 10 square mile is too big. We have done a 1,000 square mile projects. |
Probably an update that didn't apply correctly.

Ouch, dentist called an moved my appointment until tomorrow. Good thing I gots some Hydrocodone left from my last tooth related problem. snxzzzzzzzzzzz <-- Mad Magazine cartoon balloon spelling of snoring or sleeping.

Nice sailing this afternoon. Temps in the low 70s, moderate wind and minimal waves. We kept looking at Catalina Island in the distance and thinking about sailing over there. Unfortunately, the attack schnauzer wouldn't be too happy about the missed meals since she was lounging around the house while we played. |
It was 70 degrees here today. Tomorrow is going to be a bit cooler for the high.

Good morning all.
Dang lawyers. Well actually it is dang the greedy jerks on the planet that make a simple agreement anything but simple. I want to set up what I thought was a simple ACH transfer. "Automated Clearing House is a funds transfer system governed by the rules of NACHA, which provide interbank clearing of entries for participating Financial Institutions." Of course this is in there: NACHA ‐ National Automated Clearing House Association. I called the bank we use and asked how we can do that. They have a banker from corporate headquarters call me. It took him a full day to work up the agreement, and he emailed it for me to sign. It is 28 pages long! 28 PAGES. The first 11 pages are just definitions like the one above. 11 pages of definitions! I had to sign in 4 places. Just to be able to make electronic payments. Wow. |
You can't accept money from just anyone.
Friend of mine says they can't just transfer money between banks. They have to call a person at the other bank. Establish it is the bank they are supposed to transfer the money to. Get the connection information, including a one time login and password. Then login and transfer the money while on the phone with the person. Then the person confirms they got the transfer and it was credited to the correct account. And if there is a hiccup on any part, they have to start all over again. Says there are a lot of checks and double checks to make sure everyone is who they say they are and all the accounts are correct because once the transfer it made the money is transferred no take backs. |
Well accepting money has been easy. Paying out with no check is hard.
Heck the credit card reader system we use is the Square or cube whatever. I told them the numbers and they put in a penny and took it back to verify the account. The State of OK, paid of electronically. We just want to be able to send funds electronically to vendors or suppliers, and even ourselves. In theory we are in this business to make money for myself and my partner. We like getting paid. It is stupid to print a check, sign it, endorse it, and then use my phone to make a deposit. Why not save some steps and do a transfer of funds to our personal accounts. Fast, easy and painless. Or so I thought. No big deal, it is done. I just had to complain about it some ;) |
morning all. fighting with the employer over unused vacation time. By the end of the year I'll have like 30 hours I didn't use because of the wife's cancer treatment. They don't want to let me roll it over and bank it into next year. So I told them to let me know asap cause I might just take the rest of the year off and screw the construction issues on projects that are due.
|
So David, if they don't let you roll it over and don't let you use it they should have to pay you for it.
|
I have two old monitors for the Amiga platform. Were I in England they would be on eBay packed ready to ship. I can't imagine what it would cost to ship them there, but more than the $200 they are going for. Oh well, more for the recycler at work. At least the money he gets from the materials goes to St. Judes.
|
Nope they are a use it or lose it company.
|
Even if they deny you being able to use it?
