Morning all. That a shame about his business. Everything seems to be headed to the "good enough" phase. Even in my work I find drawings some engineer did that are "good enough" but when the drafter digs in they are all wrong.

Yea, we had one client call us for an aerial photo of a mega church, the school, and huge parking lot. They wanted a 40x60 print for the wall of the conference room. We flew it, and printed it and delivered the print. Nice natural color done in the spring so the grass was green and everything was tack sharp. We looked at the old print on the wall and had to suppress a laugh. The old print was done the summer before, but it was smurf blue, and looked like it was shot with a plastic lens that was out of focus. It was just horrible. I don't think we could make one that bad even if we tried. They were stunned at how good ours looked.

They let it slip that one of the church members did the old print, for just the cost of the print. I bit my lip and avoided saying you were overcharged for that garbage. I can only hope a the guy that did it before saw our print and understood there is a difference.

We also did not mention that the airport just two miles away would have been rather upset with an illegal drone flying around. I seriously doubt the buffoon had a license and filed for permission to fly it.

Some people are just hard wired to do it on their own no matter what.

We finally got above freezing so I got to work on the floor for the new garden shed. We are expanding from a 8x10 to a 12x12. Took a road trip to get a new fender for the Durango Tuesday as it was pretty bad. It was a replacement fender from a deer impact and did not hold up as well as the OEM body panels. Oh well. Body shop guy said he would prep the fender if I fix his computer. I might be able to pull that off.

Blowing snow tonight again. Might have to clear some in the morning.

If you count the beer as a business meal you can write it off, right?

We have been a bit breezy last night and today. Texas is really sucking as usual. 55 MPH winds sounds like a movie during a thunderstorm. Our storage shed is secure in it's place. I am glad the stockade fence posts are metal, and the panels are in good shape.

We are expecting up to inch of blowing snow and 20 degrees today. It was high 60s for the last few days. In case anyone forgot, I prefer 60s and low wind like yesterday.

Don't get tired on the long journey. It sure beats getting stuck in the snow or ice.

We had two inches of blowing snow on Friday night. Just 20* and breezy today.

I had to get up early today and take the boy for a haircut. This not working is hard! Need to get another job so I can relax!

Brent, I wish you would just keep that cold air up there. Today is supposed to be mid 60s again, then tonight the freezer door opens and it get all winter like again. Dang it, it is just like it is January or something.

I do plan on washing the Elky this afternoon. It is not filthy, but it has a layer of rain over-spray on it. We had .02 inches of rain recently and it was just enough to coat the car in grime, so the paint does not shine like it should. I can't have that.

I received a notice to renew my license tag on the El Camino. For the last 30 years I just left the "real" tag hidden under the personalized tag. In 2022 the new law is that only one tag per person, so I can just keep the personalized tag, and I am supposed to turn in the old regular tag. The web site is rather confusing, so I just drove over to a tag agency.

It cost me a whole $12.50 to renew my tag. I told her I lost the old tag, and she said I was supposed to carry it with me. I was a lying scumbag, as I knew where it is. I just wanted to nail it to the garage wall along with other old tags from my cars.

Oklahoma has changed the tags every few years so I just keep them because I paid a lot of $21.50 per year fees. This month the regular tag expires, but the personalized tag is good for several months, and they pro rated the fees.

So no more regular tag, just the personalized tag. Wow, I get to save 21 bucks per year on tags now!

The latest scam here is that every 5 years or so they want you to buy now plates so the shiny reflective coating they use to get clear pictures and tag with radar is new. Its not optional so the last time I paid the extra fee for the exact plate. The old ones are still on the car and the the new ones somewhere in the garage.

Wow, the personalized tag on my El Camino has been on the Elky for 30 years. It is white, with black letters. Very easy to see. In fact, it is the old style that were made in the prisons. It had the letters embossed or stamped into place. The new tags are just screen printed and totally flat.

For years the typical scam was to buy a used car, and never register it. Any parking tickets or turnpike use was billed to the former owner. If the car is pulled over the cops are supposed to impound it. Often the car was not worth keeping, so the police paid to have it sit on the impound lot for 90 days before i was sold or scrapped. They decided the car seller keeps the tag now, and the new car buyer has to get a tag within 10 days. Of course that requires proof of insurance. It will be interesting to see it that fixes the issue. I hope so.

Burrr.

15 degrees outside. Yuck. It is almost like winter or something.

We get back to decent temps over the weekend.

We were cutting up veggies for stew the other night. The two dogs both want to be in the kitchen with us to "help" and of course they both want to be on the throw rug in front of the sink because the tile floor is cold. The cabinet where we keep the cutting board is the tall skinny cabinet next to the sink, so I had to lean way over to be able to get it. I managed to drop the cutting board, and one of the wood seams let go. Of course it is my fault that a cutting board that is 30 years old had weak glue joint.

I went to the garage yesterday and get out the wood glue, and the long clamps. It is all glued back now, and I just need to do a little finish sanding and it is all fixed up.

Morning all. Its been interesting today for sure. The phone did a software update. It decided to send a question at 5:30am asking if I wanted to turn off the up coming alarm at 6am then proceeded to ignore the alarm. I got an extra hour sleep but now I'm behind for the rest of the day.

My iPhone updated yesterday evening. Normally it does it overnight while on the charger.

Version 15.2.1 now. I still have my iPhone original in the closet. It is almost funny how small it is. It still works fine, but I would have to charge it up to get it to wake up first. I guess it came with iOS 1, and I think it made it to version 3 or so before it was too out of date. I would have to turn it on to find out.
