I test drove a 2011 Cayman 987.2 6-speed manual today. It was pretty intuitive since I have only owned manual cars. 93k miles that were significantly front loaded. I’ll schedule a PPI for next week.

If I ever get some fool that pays me way over what my 85 911 is worth, (I ain't fer sale) I would likely replace it with a Cayman, with a PDK. Shifting is fun, but the PDK is just astonishing.
You will love the Cayman if you get it.

Whats keeps me from a PDK car is the desire to do my own shifting and the repair cost of a PDK if it goes.

We had a wet weekend. 3.34 inches of rain since Friday. Some parts of the metro area had over 5 inches. They had some flooding, and idiots driving into water. Unfortunately two deaths due to the drivers driving into water on the road. They really need to put that into the driver's test, and make more people know, it there is water on the road, you can't tell if it is just a few inches of a few feet deep.

Morning all. Well I have found a buyer for the 911 that is willing to wait till I'm gone. Less for the wife to handle later.
Not a bad week just a lot of it has been spent napping. I start another round of chemo on Wednesday unless told otherwise that morning. Things may get changed up as the last blood test shows that the chemo might not be working. What is next you ask? Well I don't know either.

One of the tours we are doing for this year's Porsche Parade is to head west on I-40 to Ft. Reno. It was established long before Oklahoma was anything but Indian Territory. They have lost of parking, and when we leave, drive Rt-66 to Weatherford, stop at a Rt-66 themed restaurant called Lucille's. Then over to the Stafford Air and Space museum.
My wife rode with me and we chatted with the lady that runs the museum at Ft. Reno. She is super happy about our upcoming visit as we will bring a month's wort of visitors every day, and we are doing it for four days in a row. ![]() The building in the background is the Cavalry Museum. At one point there were over 12,000 horses on the property.

The car is going in for a PPI tomorrow. I am biasedly hoping for a clean bill of health.
![]() The conundrum will be what to do with the 2006 MCS. Single owner, lotta miles, rare Checkmate edition. Would likely get raped on a trade-in but not sure how much more I would get selling on my own. Want the car to go to an appreciated new owner.

What year is that beauty?
Base or S model? I got to drive a Cayman GTS on track at Barber Mortorsports. It is a blast, and it really likes the corners. When I get to the point of not wanting to do my own maintenance, or unable to do it, I will look for a Cayman. Modern 911s now are just stupid expensive.

Always nice to drive a toy to work!
![]() I guess you don't have to worry about driving in the snow and ice. My brother's daily driver is a 1954 VW Bug. it does have a 85 HP engine, and disk brakes, and converted to 12 volts.

Happy almost Friday!
The PPI showed the items that need addressing in the near future are the clutch, the front brakes, brake fluid flush, and the tires (rears are old, fronts are an off brand). Cost to get all these done is easily $5-6k. I still want the car so my next step is negotiations. The asking price is $3k high according to metrics I have seen. Given the high asking price and the work that needs to be done, I want to start at $26k. If they take my MINI for trade in, that would also change my asking. I figure if I can get the car in great shape for $35K, I will have a good deal.

Yea, that is not bad for a Cayman, if you can get it bought for that. Do you do any work on cars yourself? The brake fluid flush and new pads in front is likely easy. I have no idea what the front pads cost on a Cayman. Tires are easy, whip out the credit card. Ouch.
The clutch on it is something I have no idea if it is easy to hard. I change the brake fluid every spring on my 911. It is a few weeks overdue, I have just been lazy and need to get it done.

With the clutch estimate, flywheel and rear main seal replacement are included. A while you're in there thing which I am totally in favor of.
I will let pros do this first service. I will play it by ear for maintenance the future holds.

Yea, the clutch replacement should always have some "while yer in the there" add on. Replace the throw out bearing, and pilot bearing, assuming there is one to replace. On my last clutch replacement, I replaced every part of the clutch, including the springs and and levers and even the clutch cable. Of course, my 911 is 40 years old and has a lot of miles, many hundreds of autocrosses, and 11 HPDE track days.

Absolutely!
We have yet more rain today. Over 6.5 inches this month, and all that is supposed to be, is GREEN. No drought at all this spring. And more is coming over the next several days. It is time for some work on the El Camino. Time for new plug wires, spark plugs and air and PVC filters. Not a hard job, but it has been many years and miles that the plugs have been in place. 8 new plugs, AC Delco wires, and Wix filters was about 80 bucks. No Porsche tax involved.
