No disrespect to the mighty bear, but Cats are the top of the food chain. A tiger, African lion or a big panther would fk a bear up but good.

I'm not afraid of the bears. Two huge dogs and enough fire power here. I'm talkin' the human element. Yes I live in the woods, kinda, but close to many decaying old steel towns where the whole town is ghett. I moved to the woods because of what you speak of on the human element. THAT is what scares me. Bears don't break into yer house for your flat screen.

I have one of these in 8"x10" in my front window.
![]() It'd be even cooler to chain a Siberian tiger in my yard. I'd go with a black bear, but i'm sure the natives around here would steal it. |

There are places where black bear and cougar share the same range (like around here). Cougars defer to them, and go to great lengths to avoid them. Where browns share the same range, they are known to actually hunt blacks and kill them. Ross Seyfreid writes of personally witnessing a large brown he was hunting pick up a large black - like over 500 pounds - in his mouth, by the scruff of the neck, and shake it around up in the air over his head like a dog with a chew toy. The black was dead before it hit the ground. Browns share the same range in eastern Russia with Siberian tigers. The guides working that area of the world will gladly clear up how that relationship works, and who rules the roost. The tigers go to great lengths to avoid the bears, to the point that if you are hunting tigers and see bear sign, you might as well hunt somewhere else. Bears run the show where they overlap. There is no such thing as a even a remotely "fair" fight between the two. Hunters over there have, on rare occasions, run accross the aftermath of chance encounters between the two. A 1,500, 1,800, maybe even 2,000 pound brown will dispatch a 500-600 pound tiger like a house cat with a mouse.

I've seen video of jungle cats going into the water to attack fully grown crocs and anacondas!
Who chases a croc into the water? Cats are no joke. The tiger is earth's ultimate land predator IMO. |

I had the pleasure of meeting both of these guys before Bart (the good looking one) passed away. When Bart stood flat-footed, on all fours, his hump was above mid chest on me, and I'm 6'0" tall. Bart was over 2,000 pounds, or half again the size of your average cow. I'm not sure if they ever "scored" him after he died, but he would not have been even close to a world record for a brown bear. Oh, and the guy in the photo - Dan Haggerty - is a pretty sizeable guy himself. Way bigger than me.

I've seen videos of that bear before. Big boy.
But much smaller than a Lion or Tiger's biggest prey animal, the elephant. I have video of a Tiger climbing a tree to attack a helicopter. A flying helicopter... Anyone remember that old 80s movie Grizzly?

Tigress vs Bear Bear gets totally owned. (start about 1:45) At the end of the video you can see the Tigress lazily eating the bear. All i know is that Snipey no mess with bears or tigers! (tigers are much tougher than Lions) Cougar momma thrashing adult grizzly in the wild. Fight ends with Grizzly fleeing in terror. ![]() To me this topic is almost as much fun as bat man vs spiderman! Bonus video: Tiger killing full grown Crocodile with absolute ease. Live video starts around :30. Last edited by m21sniper; 02-24-2010 at 07:35 AM.. |
