Gentlemen, I believe we should focus on this part of the question -- NASA would not send out a single individual. Instead, NASA would send a small group of compatible companions.

Please include pics in your comments.

I assume that those intrepid individuals posting on their future companions in the cramped, tight, sweaty space capsule will be those who "are meant to lead the entire race into the next frontier" of sexual adventure while out "discovering the Nude World." This is true whether they have explored Olympus Mons or not.

(I searched on "space girls" but the pics there - tho worthy of my concentrated attention -- are not legal on Pelican)

I don't think I'd want to do MARS. I'm more about short trips, or at the very least <1 year, round trips.

I'd love to go to space, even if it was just to go into orbit for a day or two and then come back.

Would I go? Not with a wife and family.
But.....if NASA was serious, they would be inundated with serious candidates.
Inundated.

First, NASA should be scrapped and space travel and exploration privatized. NASA is way too slow, inefficient, and a total waste of taxpayer $ at this time. Private sector profit potential needs to drive the next era of space travel.

I'd like to go to the Moon more so than Mars, but it would be interesting as well.

That lets me out. I'm not compatible with anyone.
I'd do it under the right circumstances. If you arrived and it was, "Oh Boy! The US put a man on Mars" and that was it, then - no. If I actually got to travel around on Mars and explore it, yeah - in a heartbeat.

+1 there. What a way to ruin a cool vacation. You could send them to the beach and go to Mars on your own.

I disagree. Send M21.

Who here wants to chip into a collection to send M21 to Mars?

i have no desire to land on mars but i think the ride getting there would be fun so long as no hibernation is involved and they have a full bar and smoking is allowed on-board, otherwise no

I'd go. Suicide mission? big deal. Humanity needs to get off this rock. It's incredibly stupid of us to think we can survive much longer, and the first step HAS to be made, at any cost, to ensure to survival of our race..

This is where I was going. The human race is currently a one-trick pony and people who argue that we need to take care of things on this planet first aren't really considering the big-picture. So I would go if only to prove such things as human survival on long space voyages, human survival on strange new worlds . . . or human male survival in a close-proxmity environment with two females of breeding quality.

I know it simply sounds like noble BS, but I'd be willing to do it. For my country and the human race.

I know, send M21 with Normy. Put a pay-per-view camera on board and let the hijinks ensue.

It would be quite an adventure. I imagine most here would be too old for consideration.
