Glad to hear it! If it was below 80%, then get ready for a longer oral exam...

Congrats, Dave. You will become more familiar with the stuff after getting more hours in the air. The important part is you passed.

Thank you!!!

Joe, I got an 80. I was hoping for 85 and up. Two question I stupidly blew. From going over the Gleim simulation over and over, I did not read the entire question, as I thought I recognized the question and just chose the answer. I knew I was going to do that and told myself not to, but... I also had a feeling that there would be a few questions that I would stumble on and I did. Anxieties kicked in and things happened. Whatever happens with the oral, happens. I will continue to study this stuff and really work on my weak spots.

But I did pass and I am happy for that. As I mentioned, this test has been a demon of mine for 24 years. So for me, I stepped up to the plate, swung and hit it out of the park or just give me a gold star.

Onwards and upwards!

A pass is a pass. Even when I was interviewing for the regionals they never asked what score I got on a written test. They WILL ask "have you ever failed a check ride". Make sure you don't. That's what matters. The written, not so much.

An 80 is fine. Its when we would see someone with a 70 or 72 that they got a more involved oral.

Now get your butt out there and fly some more!

Joe

Jeff, while I don't intent to fail my check ride, I also don't plan on being a professional pilot. I have no interest. A big part of going for my license, was to pass this test. This is solely a hobby and to prove to myself once and for all I can pass this test or any other. I really have struggled with performance anxieties all my life. This has been eating at me for 24 years and I have finally accomplished my goal. I'm not worried about the oral or check ride - though I will have anxieties when the time comes to take those tests.

Thanks, dmcummins!

Joe, I would like to, but it's overcast! CMA was IFR all day or at least most of it and VNY was MVFR most of the day. I suppose I could have flown the pattern, but I also planned on the possibility of a hangover today.

Congrats Dave! 80 is good enough, just like D is for diploma.

Congrats, Dave!

Bit by the RTFQ snake, eh? We all know that snake!

One thing I read was that you wanted to wait for your instructor to get back from vacation. I'd encourage you to fly with others - they will give you different perspectives and experiences as well as help nudge you out of your comfort zone. In the AF we flew with lots of different instructors and aircraft commanders, and it's a very positive thing to experience.

Jim
